I have found that good resources that deal with Spiritual Direction and contemplative prayer are: Anything by the late Fr. Thomas Dubay, he has a book called "Seeking Spiritual Direction" that is very good and helps you a lot if you can't find a director. Next, I just finished a great new book about Spiritual Direction called Navigating the Interior Life by Dan Burke. He also has an excellent website called RCSpiritualDirection.
