What to Expect from Your Kenmore Classic Top-Load Washer

Everyone wants to buy a washer, but nobody really wants to change their washer. The good news is that the washer you got from your parents is just fine- and you can expect it to work well for years and years. But if it were really that simple, you wouldn't be watching this video. So what are your options? Do you fix it? Do you buy a new one? And what do these machines even do anyways? This is the first installment in our series about keeping your clothing clean, fresh and socks separate for only $80 a year.

WOW. My washer was new in 1992. I still have it. And I don't plan to get rid of it after seeing these new washers. I'll just keep fixing it for 20 to 30 bucks every 3 to 5 years.

I have both a early 2000's Kenmore 70 series washer and also a 2010 Kenmore compact stack unit. Both of these are the old school direct drive and clean clothes fantastically. I won't ever part with them. It's well worth spending the money to repair them if they break down. I know many people with various types of the HE/Energy Star washers that absolutely loathe them and deeply regret purchasing them.

I bought a new large capacity top load Kenmore washing machine with agitator in 2018. I bought a Kenmore dryer at the same time. They both work great, but the silver/gray area behind the control dials/knobs has some kind of spotting that almost looks like mold. I can’t figure out what it is and nothing I’ve tried so far will remove it. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you desire to add an extra rinse, select the Second Rinse with fabric softener.

Once the lid is locked, these washers work differently by sensing an out of balance load.

Add items and loose heaps evenly around the basket wall.

If your washer does not have an agitator, use the Downy Ball included with your washer.

No no no, I still have my Frigidaire Gallery Washer and Maytag Washer for 20+ years. I can wash a load of clothes in 15 minutes and have them dried in another 20 to 30 minutes. I've been looking at new washers for the last 4 years. I can not find anything that out performs my old $200 washer, and never had to repair it. It's only a 3 Cu top load washer and have been looking at 4+ cu. No current washer has convince me to go their way for washing clothes for 45+ minutes. I think washer brands have turned cleaning into a scam. My washer is a drop and wash washer, no waiting for a computer to figure out what... clothes capacity and weight; So laughable.
