My partner applied and his vetting had to be resubmitted in July due to a missing Facebook url, he resubmitted it and has heard nothing since, he has tried to contact for an update but just gets a generic email in response so he has no idea if he passed the vetting

I joined BTP in 1990. We trained at Home Office District Training Centres. I transferred to HO force on same pay and conditions few years later. The pension (at that time) was not compatible. Things have changed and the pension transfer arrangements are a lot better. With regards to them being friendly and approachable, I suspect sub-consciously it's the BTP officers often have to call on HO forces for urgent assistance, and less so the other way round. Some HO officers have an attitude that they will never need BTP.

I've been waiting nearly 2 years to Join BTP. Great people and I enjoyed the interview process but the recruitment time scale is very long. Most people remain on a conditional offer for a long time.

dang, i've just applied and that doesnt sound good, similar to my army reserve process, takes forever

The communication is quite poor, every few months you will receive a generic email just checking in. Most officers waited 18 months to 2 years. I'm fully committed to joining but it's frustrating to hear that stations are short staffed but nobody is receiving start dates or intakes.

I passed my assessment, interview and fitness test in summer 2023. And was made a conditional job offer. I went down to London to undertake my fitness test, biometric swabs & uniform fitting. Since then I have heard nothing. Whenever I have emailed the recruitment team, I am told that there is no positions at the moment. Is this normal/typical? It’s coming on close to 9 months now and I am really eager to get started. I have family and friends who are doubting that I had a job offer. I don’t know what to do or where to turn and can’t seem to get any answers.

​@@garethmills8923I had the same issue. You would likely have been placed into a talent pool. I applied over a year ago and I have start date for next month. Once you have a start date for training is when they will send the final pre-employment checks (vetting). They aim to finish the vetting before your start date although that isn't guaranteed.
