Thanks to all of the trail maintenance people who take care of these trails so that visitors can enjoy the park. I know that has to be hard work, but please know that your work is appreciated.

As a teen my family made multiple trips to the Smokies. Then as a late 20-something I took my newly married British wife through the park. Now I desperately want to climb to the top of the Chimney tops and am unable to do so because of the trail closure. Lesson is that you should take opportunities when they present themselves. Maybe one day.

do it anyways. the gate is easy to walk around and the rock climb is still the same as before - aka no less safer. i did it yesterday and a small girl passed me on the climb lol

I’ve been up to the top 3 times and I’m very disappointed you guys couldn’t find a way to keep it the way it was.

I'm disappointed my wife didn't stay eighteen years old. But life goes on.

Scores of people are bypassing the fence and climbing the rocks every day. It's not technically difficult to climb but it's pretty terrifying now because all the plants are gone and you can really tell you are clinging to a shear rock cliff that falls hundreds of feet. One mistake or slip and you're done. I'm amazed there aren't fatalities every other day.

I wonder the same thing. Do they ever report injuries, fatalities? Are there ever any?

climb at your own risk its public land, it should be left to people to decide if they can or cannot - it is still the same climb as rocks do not burn so thats why no one has died yet, its still the same trail just with less veg

Reopening this trail was a terrible idea, there is a reason this place burned. People will not stop going out into the burn area and onto the pinnacles. Area should have been permanently closed.

You said there's a reason this place burned. Whats that reason? Why do you think no one should be allowed on the pinnacles?
