Im epileptic too seen I was Three years old but I thank God that he blessed me with a son it was not easy cause I was told so many storys that I couldn't Have a disabled child but all I use to do was pray and with God all things are possible I had my healthy baby boy safe I would like to share my story to help other women with epilepsy that it's possible to have a healthy baby

I've had epilepsy since a teenager and I've had trouble staying pregnant. I decided to stop taking my meds slowly when I got pregnant with my miracle daughter that's 8 and am now 43 and pregnant with my son at 33 weeks. I'm off meds with son also. It's rough having seizures being pregnant but I feel it's healthier for me.

You know, I use to keep my epilepsy a secret. I ended up having to tell people at the age of 28, because I would get seizures at work. My neurologist is amazing! And she told me once I become sexually active with someone, to inform her. I'm taking 4 different medications and they are high risk drugs (level C), and not safe to take during pregnancy. I'm not married yet, but I've been taking folic acid daily for years. It's so important! And this lady is correct with regards to changes in hormones. Almost a third of women get seizures during their period because of hormonal changes. So imagine being pregnant with all those hormones changing in your body, in addition reducing your medications. I've spoke with a woman with epilepsy who was pregnant, and she did tell me she was having more seizures than usual. It makes sense.

Thank you for this. I came off Tegratol before pregnancy - worried about spinal bifida- and took a higher dose of Keppra. Went from controlled epilepsy (one seizure a year for the last 13 year) to 2-3 seizures a week which was stressful. Now on Lamictol and Keppra and am onto one night seizure a week (in trimester 2)...its helped a lot but it's been a journey and am still figuring it out with my husband. Thankfully from scans the baby is doing well. Interesting to hear about taking sleeping meds in 3rd trimester. I'll talk to the doctor about this. Also good to hear someone else is considering formula as a solution to get sleep. 💜 just looking for the best way to keep the baby safe and a practical plan

Epilepsy isn't a disease. It's a neruological disorder that anyone at any age can develop at any time. I've had epilepsy since I was 2, I was never diagnosed with epilepsy because I was told you have to have one than one seizure. I kept getting Nocturnal seizures at night. I had all the symptoms, headaches, eyes roll back, biting my tongue and convulsing. I would always wake up feeling terrible and having the taste of blood in my mouth. I had to advocate for myself when I was older since my parents didn't understand what was happening to me. For anyone who is dealing with epilepsy make sure that you always advocate for yourself, find a neurologist who has compassion and will listen to you, try to find the right medication that works for you, find out the things that trigger your seizures, never give up!!

Im pregnant with epilepsy. My siezures are controlled, but I'll get the occasional focal or absance seizure. Im married, but my husband works 50+ hours a week from 2:30 pm to 1 am Im absolutely devistated and suffering from crippling fear and depression and its only been 5 weeks. I wanted a baby, but now Im regretting it. I dont have a lot of family or friends to help me. My husbands gone all the time. I feel so much shame that Im terrified to talk to anyone about it. I burst into tears everday from pure and shame.
