Stopped drinking 2 summers ago. Thoughts, cravings , gone. No urge to sneak it into the house, or drink . I do go to family gatherings, dinners, no thoughts. Im fine with water, soda, tea. My daughter will be going to college soon so no daily walks after dinner, no driving her around on weekends, it'll be pretty quiet. Best thing for me to do is to stay sober, stay busy around the house, read, etc, so when I see her again, she'll see me as a better person

My mom was extremely jaundice & she was constantly being drained. She was more uncomfortable than anything else & just not being able to care for herself. Different things happened that shouldn't of that sped up her to pass that shouldn't have. Its what she went through & ill never forget the AWFUL night nurse once we did hospice. She made it harder for my mom & harder for me. I didnt want my mom suffering but It kills me the way she died. 6 hrs before passing she said, Amanda I love u!! ❤️ she was my best friend! I miss her so much! Thanks for what your doing for us. It has explained some things that i now understand that I was confused about . Your amazing!💜

My dad died of cirrhosis last September and I wish I’d seen this video when it came out. Would have put me so much more at ease. He was in a horrible care facility and the doctors were not communicating anything to us. Hospice got involved only two days before he died bc he got Covid and we knew he wouldn’t make it through that. It was a blessing he got Covid because we couldn’t stand to see him suffering anymore and we knew he wouldn’t want to live that way. His mind was gone. It was the worst thing I’ve ever done through and felt so helpless. RIP Dad love you more.

my father passed from liver cirrhosis, and we are grateful because we didn't witness hardship in his final days. he was asleep most of the time and in his last two days I feel it coming so I played his fave songs, whispering my goodbyes and letting him go so he'd be free from pain. thanks for sharing this nurse Julie! God bless!

Thank you for sharing all the great info Julie. My MIL has this terminal disease & she’s had a lot of “final moments” in the last year (my FIL rushes her to the hospital, calls all the fam members urgently to go see her, this could be it, etc etc) but as soon as they get that medication in her, her ammonia levels get better & she gets sent home. It’s been -and continues to be- an emotional roller coaster for all her children & I wish we could be of more help but can’t.

Thank you so much I'm a very young person who was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirosis a few years ago I have to use lactalous everyday I went undiagnosed a long time because they had no idea why I would forget who I was or who my family was and a nurses aid finally said I was acting like my ammonia was high when I was taken into er unresponsive but have always been told that it's a horrible death so thank you very much for this you will never know how much it's helped for the first time I been diagnosed it's something positive

My husband had the same thing (NASH). His death was very peaceful. He went to sleep and eventually slipped into unconsciousness until his final breaths. He had no terminal agitation and no death rattle. It was very peaceful.

My wife passed away from metastic breast cancer and among other sites it was her liver that showed a large number of metastases. She was admitted to hospital 1 week before she died and within a day of being admitted she was delusional to the point of paranoia. It lasted for a day or two before she lapsed into unconsciousness. For the last number of months she had experienced ascites. So "confusion" can present in different ways I suppose. Thanks Julie, you are doing amazing work on this topic! Keep up the fantastic work! Our whole society needs to be educated about the dying process.

Thank you so much for posting this information. My husband was diagnosed with Cirrhosis in May. I know that we’ll be dealing with hospice sometime in the future, whether it’s in 6 months or 5 years. I’m finding all of your videos very reassuring! Thank you again. 🌹

While I wasn't on hospice, I was given less than a year to live without a transplant in 2009 for autoimmune hepatis. By the time of my transplant, no amount of lactalose kept me from being 'loopy' and I was in a coma at one point due to my ammonia levels. I suffered - well, I didn't because I didn't know I was even here half the time - my family suffered with my encephalopathy. Do you find that occurring for hospice patients as well? Love your channel! Keep up the great work of demystifying a natural but sometimes disturbing process.

My liver exploded one day at work, and I finished the day out and went home. I had been so very sick for months. My rheumatoligst was given me meds I shouldn't take as I was a hep B carrier. So, over the months, I got increasingly worse, although I continued to work. Anyway a couple of days later my husband took me to the ER. I remember about the first 2 days the rest is gone. I had a liver transplant, and I was told I was so very sick that surgeons and doctors did not think I would survive. I was in hospital for over 3 months. I had turned yellow the second day and it was very scary.

My friend was anything but peaceful. Terminal agitation is one of the most horrific things I’ve ever witnessed she never lost consciousness it went on for at least a couple days and do you think it’s from once the liver starts pumping dirty blood do your brain your brain gets poisoned and your body is not able to shut off or to die peacefully?

Hi, I'm not a medic, but as I understand it, terminal agitation is a sign of approaching death, but it doesn't have to be connected to the illness the person may be dying from. It's just a part of the dying process like reduced food/water, increased sleep, breathing changes, etc. Death itself has signs and symptoms. My grandmother had it and she didn't have liver disease.

Once a person starts doing this. How long do they survive. My mother has liver disease. And has to go in once a week to get drained. And she is taking the liquid you talk about. And she has the confusion also.
