Hello everyone, this is just a bit of info on liver disease and some of the things that can go with it. Also I talk a little about life expectancy when you have liver disease. Also the financial burden is hard when living with this. If you would like to help you can by going to
gofund.me/e24cd50a
Or Venmo is @Neil-Mikuta
But not necessarily but I thank everyone who has helped me from the bottom of my heart.

I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver 1/21/22 from alcoholism at 38. It was the hardest fight of my life for 10 months. I was only given 3 months to live. The disease took over my body and eventually only had weeks because it was so bad. On 10/17/22 I received a phone call from University of Michigan and they had a match for me. They saved my life and I've been sober since 1/21/22.

thanks for your video. it sounds like you have decompensated cirrhosis. For those out there that still have compensated cirrhosis, I would like to give them a word of encouragement. I was diagnosed back in 2019 a couple of months before the shutdown. They told me I was on the borderline between compensated and decompensated. And said I had about 3 years to live. I made both habit and lifestyle changes. No drinking (which I don't believe was the primary cause, but was a contributing factor), diet restructuring (on going), supplements and exercise. I also gave up driving. And bike as much as possible, on a good day I can get 10 miles. But other days I can't even get out of bed. I have been hospitalized four times for esophageal varices ruptures. which is actually how they found out about my condition. I still work but take about twice as many days off as I get in sick days. I normally don't speak about this topic but to close friends, so I would like to commend you on your willingness to put yourself out there. Also enjoyed the answer to the question how long do I have? It brought a little respite to an otherwise sobering topic. Keep your head up my friend, ...

I have to commend your outlook! There’s another guy who has a channel who has cirrhosis. I couldn’t finish watching it. All he did was complain. You have the right attitude. Having had cirrhosis myself - until I got a transplant- I lived everyday as it were my last - no alcohol of course. Finally, be careful of your protein intake. It can cause encephalopathy. Look it up. Also, drink lots of Water to keep your kidneys going. They’ll take a beating throughout the years. Your immune system is low also… white blood cells are low. Good luck brother.

Neil this was a very good video! You covered so many of the questions people wonder about when newly diagnosed. My liver Dr told me he wanted to see me live 30 more years without a transplant! I am 58 so you have many more years to go my brother in C. I was diagnosed Nov 2022 and went thru all the hoops in August 2023 to make the transplant list. Nov. 2023 with tears of joy in his eyes my Dr said I was too well and not in need of a transplant now. It’s a rare thing he said so you and I are so Blessed! One thing that I still struggle with is neuropathy in my feet - left foot is worse. But like you, put one foot in front of the other & keep on keeping on. All the best

He never smoked, doesn't drink and was a vegetarian for 15 years. He has recently been having arterial nose bleeds due to the blood thinning, bilirubin kicking butt but no jaundice.... nausea, fatigue, mood swings.... you covered a lot and I think your video is a blessing to others. I wish we could donate to you, but as you well know and so do we, this diagnosis kills you financially. We are hanging on by a thread. Will keep you in my prayers along with my husband. Thanks for the videos man, It’s greatly appreciated. I can absolutely relate. My dad passed away when he was 36 years old from a genetic form of liver disease/cirrhosis and unfortunately I was diagnosed with it about a year and a half ago and next month I will be 36 and I am coming up on my 2 year mark. I have been hospitalized multiple times for variceal bleeding, H.E. And a handful of other complications due to cirrhosis. It’s a rough process that is for sure, it’s hard to plan anything because the symptoms can hit so fast and be so disorienting and crippling.. it makes every day a struggle and a complication. It’s tough to plan to do anything with the family, makes it extremely difficult to work every day.. it makes it difficult to plan for tomorrow, which makes it impossible to plan for the future because ultimately we don’t know if we will even have one or if we will get liver transplant or what our health and quality of life will be. It’s a nightmare I’ve sat here and lost track of what I’m writing or thinking.. I wish there were better answers and not just “you could live with this for the rest of your life.” That must be in the book somewhere because those are the same exact words my doctor told me. I hope the best for you and your family and everyone that is going through the same thing

People, besides drinking alcohol. Monitor your Sugar intake because High Sugar diet is very similar to drinking alcohol.2nd a high Refined Carbohydrate diet.Limit your carbs and sugar. 3rd,also High Fat diet or more like Saturated Fat diet (eating too much fatty Red Meat;ribs, bacon, ribeye steak, sausages, etc.) and processed deli meats- keep an eye on these foods in not eating too much of it.These items are generally super hard on the Liver that if we consume so much of it that it could kill the Liver.

I’ve seen many examples of people reversing fatty liver and the occasional anecdote of reversing fibrosis on a purely red meat carnivore diet. Cases that were considered irreversible. The data is still coming in as that diet gains popularity, but it looks like we may have to pump the brakes on the previous way of thinking regarding fatty red meat. It may even be the missing answer for slowing cirrhosis.

The rest of the family knew that's what was changing things for the better. I'm hoping it will help save others the extra grief. Sometimes the western way of doing things isn't the best way. I used to be a super heavy drinker, then got sober for 2 years. Had an ultrasound some months back, and my liver was in very good shape. Not fatty, not enlarged, no scarring. It surprised me at first, I was drinking like a madman before finally getting sober. The way it was explained to me, is that the liver will heal from just about anything- as long as you don't go over a certain threshold of damage, which is different for everyone and impossible to predict. That's why some people can drink a bottle of vodka daily for 30 years and never get cirrhosis, and why someone who only drank a couple beers 3 or 4 times a week gets cirrhosis at 35. It's unfair, but there it is.

@@2Hard4UrGrandma Up to a litre of vodka or whisky, plus as many beers as my stomach could take, at the worst of it. It wasn't like that all the time, of course. Not speaking about your case at all. However, if you have been diagnosed with fatty liver disease, just please listen to what I did to cure mine. I was told that I had fatty liver, and needed a liver biopsy. I have never drank or taken drugs. Believe me, they asked me many times, and I got a little ticked off that they thought I wasn't telling the truth. Anyway, I said no thanks on the biopsy, and went home to research fatty liver, and I learned that it is mostly due to your diet, and metabolism problems!! I went on a low carb/keto eating plan. No sugar or grains, however the food is delicious! I don't count calories, I have a lot of freedom, am never hungry, and eat yummy low carb desserts and fantastic food! I lost weight, got off all meds, including those for high blood pressure and diabetes. I think better and sleep better. I have no more tiredness or joint pain. A few months later, testing showed that my fatty liver problems were GONE!!! Please check this out for yourself!! Dr. Ken Berry and other low carb/keto/carnivore doctors on KZbin have videos about the subject. Good luck to you, and thank you for sharing your story. You never know who you will help with this.
