Hi there! I've tried quite a few types of contact lenses but haven't had success. Apparently most of my astigmatism is lenticular so the contact lenses rotate and go out of focus. Are scleral lenses a good option? Do they rotate and move like other lenses (soft, RGP, etc.)? Thanks so much for the info (If you have time to answer that is)!

Hello and thank you for your question! Scleral lenses are often a great option if you experience rotation and problems with focus. Sclerals don't rotate as much as softs and RGPs because they are designed to fit the topography of your unique cornea. Our scleral patients often cannot wear soft or RGP lenses anymore and find sclerals to be more comfortable, offering clearer vision as well. Hi, I have contacts for monovision -5.25 in my dominant eye and -4.5 in my non dominant eye. I told my Dr I wanted to see a little better up close, such as Resturant menus. He changed my contacts to -5.50 in my dominant and kept my other eye -4.50. Would this help? Or should he have lowered my non dominant to -4.25 and kept -5.25 ?

Hi there- it is hard to say without a full examination in -person, so the best thing will be to communicate with your Doctor about how well you are seeing or any difficulties you are having with the lenses they have prescribed. Most patients return to their Doctors after having worn and adapted to the lenses for a set amount of time - let them know any difficulties you are having and they should be able to make changes as needed.
