So thankful for this and the potty training video. The recommendation for the waterproof mats was a lifesaver for us. I adopted a starved pound puppy who had "just had puppies and been dumped" they said. A couple days after adoption she had seven puppies. 6 weeks old should be able to have soft kibble. So let it sit in water and then give it . After they get used to eating that you can do both hard and soft.

It all depends. Mush is very hard to measure how much they actually eat. But if you are offering it to them a couple times a day. Make sure mom isn’t eating it!

My brother adopted a 4 week of pit puppy--unweaned of course--we thought the litter was older. We tried everything soaked dry, canned and cow's milk and maybe some goat milk. Cow milk made her bloated and her butt itched, but she wouldn't eat anything else until real chicken broth and meat was cooked and that was what she was weaned on. . . Adding rice bit by bit. They say dry powdered cow milk is easier to digest than fresh cow and goat might be easier, but dry powdered cow milk is all they use in MOST puppy milk formulas and then add fat and protein. Whey is powdered milk protein.

They are big enough. I have occasionally had one that was small so I put a cookie cooling sheet on top of that, temporary fix for like a week until their big enough. They are not averse to it at all.

Can I ask about the goats milk? My mom's isn't producing enough milk, the vet recommended esbilac replacement milk, which I already had in the goats milk powder. The puppies want nothing to do with it and when I said I had goats milk before she even let me finish and tell her it was the brand she recommended, she told me goats milk can cause upset stomach. Goats are smaller, and makes sense to me that it would be OK, so I'm glad to see you using it. I would like to know what brand it is so I can see if something is avaliable in my area. Hey! Every vet has some differences. The goats milk for us is used for maybe 2-3 days. But you could try making mush with water and canned dog food?

I was told by numerous people that cow's milk, goat's milk or human infant formula should not be fed to puppies because dogs don't have the enzymes to process lactose. Not sure if I got that exactly right, but it was something like that.

Hi, how much food do you give the puppies per day? We have a litter of 7 mini Aussies right now and have been mixing their food for each meal until the last few days. I started to premix their kibble with raw milk and let it soak in the fridge until it's time for them to eat, then we heat it up a bit. (90 degrees) The puppies have been having diarrhea the last few days and occasionally vomiting. I am just wondering if we are over feeding them. I switched to just raw goat milk with a little added sugar to prevent low blood sugar for the past 2 feedings. Hoping something a little more bland would settle their stomachs. I have just read that free feeding isn't recommend due to potential overeating. However, if you have success with it, it's an option I would like to try. Thank you for your channel! Very informative. My 5 year old likes to watch and learn!
