In this video, Steve with Upstart Epoxy takes you through the must-know tips when it comes to epoxy drying times. How to dry your resin faster, how to prepare your epoxy for success, and how to achieve perfect pours every time. When working with Upstart Epoxy we don’t recommend mixing other brands. The importance of following our instructions on each of the labels for tabletop, deep pour, and art resin is imperative. When you mix other brands of epoxy you risk tampering with the perfect ratio we’ve created and your epoxy may not care properly and will likely become cloudy. The other tip we recommend for drying your epoxy faster is to be working in a warm room from 70 to 80°. If you do this your epoxy will cure faster. If you’re working in a cold room your epoxy will cure slower. Finally, if you want to pour your epoxy bubble-free then we highly recommend warming your epoxy prior to pouring. This will make the epoxy less viscous which means there will be more workability with the product and your pours will come out much much clearer. The last note to take away from this video is preventing your epoxy from becoming full of debris. In order to protect your project after you have poured and before the epoxy is cured we recommend covering your project with a see-through plastic container in order to prevent any debris from arriving and in the event that it does you will be able to clear it.

I'm trying to mate glass coasters from small circular oil painted canvas but I'm 5 days in and the damn epoxi still hasn't dried. And it's cracked and foggy. What's up with that? Some of the pieces are clear and others not so much. Some have had the epoxi evaporate and some don't. Some dried more homogenous and others it created a dried layer and it's gel like underneith. And I did the exact same process and proportions between the resine and the drying agent. This is making me question whether I should have used some sort of silicone instead. Someone have any suggestions?

I don’t have a climate controlled area to work with small epoxy projects like cutting boards. I do hav an empty spare bedroom in my house. Is it safe to work in there with epoxy resin??

Working with epoxy resin indoors, such as in a spare bedroom, can be safe if you take the proper precautions to ensure adequate ventilation and use personal protective equipment (PPE). Epoxy resin, especially during mixing and curing, can release fumes that may be harmful if inhaled in concentrated amounts over time. Here's how to make your indoor workspace safer for small epoxy projects like cutting boards: 1. Ventilation Ensure Good Airflow: Open windows and use fans to create a cross breeze that directs fumes away from your working area and out of the room. Use an Air Purifier: Consider using an air purifier with a HEPA filter and activated carbon to help reduce airborne particles and fumes. 2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Respirator: Wear a respirator mask with organic vapor cartridges when working with epoxy resin. This is especially important in indoor spaces where fumes can accumulate. Gloves: Use nitrile gloves to protect your skin from direct contact with the resin and hardener. Protective Clothing: Wear long sleeves and pants or a lab coat to protect your skin. Safety glasses or goggles should also be worn to prevent splashes in your eyes. 3. Work Area Preparation Cover Surfaces: Use drop cloths or plastic sheeting to protect the floor and any furniture. Epoxy can be very difficult to remove once cured. Containment: If possible, set up a dedicated containment area or use a large cardboard box as a makeshift barrier to help contain spills and limit fume spread. Thanks for watching.
