I finished building my second home about a year ago. I was the homeowner/builder. I took a lot of knowledge from Matt and his channel. Every time I see a new video I want to start a new one!! Great content from you and your network of builders. Thanks Matt for putting out great content that we all can learn from. 👍

I assumed this was just going to be a curtain wall install in a residential building, but then they mentioned it was Pella brand and they talked about a nail flange, so this is truly a massive residential window. I wonder how this compares with commercial glazing in terms of cost and quality of envelope.

Okay, that is going to be a ‘basketball court/pickleball court/ gym’, that has to be, at a minimum, tempered glass, but optimally laminated safety glass.

When there are several versions of low e coatings. Look up cardinal glass, they make the actual glass and sealed units for Andersen, lots of choices in coated window glazing. i use low e 4 sunglass glass all around even the sliding doors, fantastic to keep out the heat in summer, and adds privacy, since they don't look clear from outside, but are perfectly clear inside looking out. Magic, science, technology Low e 4 sunglass Andersen calls it, cardinal uses generic terms, since they make the stuff for lots of the window mfgs. glazing is Cardinal, as with all the different coatings. Why would you want a giant window to allow your neighbor to look into your house? This makes no sense to me for the site.
@gparsr
@gparsr 4 ай бұрын
Landscaping and interior work (drapes, blinds etc) not yet completed so yes, at first it does look exposed. Additionally, many hours of the day the windows will often provide some reflection that adds to the privacy. Add a plant or two and with the extended porch, you’ll get incredible light but not the harsh sun. We did the same at my previous house, and at the same point in construction I felt maybe it was too much and will neighbours always be looking in, so we invested in custom blinds that we could drop down when ever we felt ‘exposed.’ In the end, we rarely dropped the blinds. The floor to ceiling windows became a major selling point when we left the house.

Never, ever, ever get windows from Pella. Unless you want no details on delivery, trash installation by techs who don’t care, incorrect measurements and lousy post sale support to remedy the shoddy installation. Every person that was on my file has been fired and has frightening stories about working there. Owning multiple properties, people often ask me what windows I recommend. I offer them $1,000 if they pick anyone *but* Pella. Literally any other supplier will do a better job.
