But it’s simply office GMT, it is more usefull in tracking other time zones when not traveling and also you can quick set the date. It’s not fail, i find it more usefull since I am not changing time zones that often but need to track time in other time zones. It all comes to personal preference. P.S. Even if you dont align it perfectly, it will align by itself, I have FC with a movement based on ronda 515.24H

Great review! Love Unimatic’s design…but their case designs are just too bulky IMHO and don’t appear to sit on the wrist the way I would like them to so have never pulled the trigger on one.

It's just a nice wrapper for a VH31 movement. Lots can be had on AliX with similar specs at significantly less prices. Militado ML05 is one example.

I have been keeping an eye on Unimatic for a few years now. And eventually pulled the trigger for a Modelo Uno on rubber strap. Once you have accepted that the Seiko movement is not the greatest, but is how the watch is available at an affordable price point, the brilliance of the design fully shines. And that’s the whole point : design comes first and I don’t think practicality is part of the brand’s DNA. For example, the sterile bezel on the Modelo Uno makes no real sense of a watch with 300 meters of depth rating. But it isn’t meant to make sense, only to look drop dead cool If you want sensible, buy a Sinn.

Smashing looking watch. Always dug the Unimatic's design language, but the bezel on this one, along with that sexy case and milspec look really caught my eye. Could do entirely without the GMT function on this type of watch though. And as you mention, given its milspec pretentions, needs better lume.

I love my unimatic. I actually own the Italian parachute divisions version of the unimatic I actually jumped with the Italians at fort Bragg when I was a paratrooper and as soon as I saw it I had to grab it I have it on my arm as this is being written

This watch is kind of generic looking to me, kind of like Marathon mixed with a Bulova retro diver. Swiss Watch company chose to use this wheel GMT and it really seems lacking in precision like you said. Meh.
