Hi Tom, well I am still to buy a lathe, but watching your videos just fill me with as much joy as I should imagine turning would. Your enthusiasm is tremendous as are your instructional videos for those of us considering pursuing woodturning as a hobby. Please keep the simple stuff coming for us newbies and from Scotland, deagh dhùrachdan bho, Lawrence

An excellent demonstration on buying a second-hand Lathe Tom was very informative I did notice that you missed out on Ashley Iles when you talked about buying tools, an oversight I'm sure.😃

Thanks for your comment 😁 Ashley Iles are another great brand of wood turning tools I would recommend, most of the British companies I've mentioned are all based in Sheffield England like Ashley Iles 😁 thanks for watching 👍

Hi Tom, Steve from HWA here! I didn’t see you at the last meet and do not have your details so thought I’d ping you here. I’m in need of advice on where to take my lathe motor for a service. Drive stops under small cutting load and it won’t start turning without help. I’ve fitted a new v-belt and check everything else but not having any joy. Thought it would be the next thing to try.
@thewelshwoodman6492 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, does the motor start OK and run OK without any load being put on the shaft? When your cutting is the motor bogging down or completely stopping? Another thing to check is the tension of the belts, sometimes if they are too lose they can slip or to tight it can wear them out/stop the motor running smoothly. If you can send me a video via email I'm happy to have a look for you - thewelshwoodman@gmail.com

Thanks for your message Paul, I sold the Poolewood, lathe in the video last year with a load of tools, chuck, accessories and dust extraction for £1000. It was a really reliable machine for me. I hope this helps. 😁Tom
