Watching this just in case, my school consuler wanted to send me to one of those hospitals for self harm, how do i explain to my mother that it might not be a bad thing?
@thea135 жыл бұрын
I’m so sorry for the late reply to this. I am absolutely shit as checking my comments and managing my channel as of late. So just to say I am not a doctor or therapist. My advice would be to ask your therapist, mental health professional, school counselor to have a sit down with you and your mom to talk about referring you to a unit and why it would help. I know from experience that it can be hard to make our family “hear” us. A change of face from a professional can help make the message sink in if your reasoning isn’t quite cutting it if that makes sense? I hope this helps and you’re doing better.

Savannah SweetHeart , I hope things are better these days... You know YOU would be AMAZED at not just what YOU can get through- & survive, but that YOU CAN SORE. You mean have/are going through the negative time - but you have no idea about the POSITIVE things to come... so you need to hang around to enjoy the gifts that life will give you. No one needs to go into that crisis to ask for help. Many of the worlds top performers (CEOs, popsters exedra) say a psychologist or a Quillivant regular basis - someone not in your friend family group that can see your situation and their side and give you true independent and professional professional advice, support, and teach you to love yourself. That would be the best gift that you could ever be given - The best news is you can give it to yourself. Who would’ve thought that you give yourself the best gift you would EVER receive. I hope you’ve got someone regular and reliable, independent that you can speak to. Give yourself a hug. ⭕️❌⭕️👌🏻❣️

Well in the USA the only thing you can have in a psych ward and i know i been in many is Deodorant,Bodywash, Your own toothbrush is a must and toothpaste, And only 3 outfits maybe 5 if you're lucky. And a Calling Card is great to have so you can call ppl and its great to bring a book or 2 to read as you will be bored as heck when you're in these places. The most time i ever spent in one of these places is 11 months and reading books is what kept my sanity.

I've never been to one but I really want to. Not because I think its "trendy" or "cool" or whatever, but because I kinda have a feeling that going to one can really help me a lot more than just my counselor. For example, I tried talking to my counselor about my eating habits and he just said, "Just eat healthier and just the stuff you like." "Go shopping with your mom and pick out what you like." Yeah, that didn't help. Sadly, I don't think the area I live in has a psych ward. I'm not sure.

I was put into two residential programs and it really is facility based. One of them I was allowed all my art supplies, pencils, sketch book, markers, and my Nook (electronic book device, no camera). The other I had to lock them up. One took our shoes for a period of time, the other had us wear them when ever we weren't in our rooms but did contraband checks when ever we arrived back to the program. I feel like hospital based facilities are more strict then residential. Could be wrong.

I thought about it but it's such a big thing to do. My family doesn't know about my depression and I can't tell them. Not because they will not understand, but how hurt they will be. I have to hide that from them and if I go to one of these hospitals, then the info is out. I checked online to see what people say about it and some were negative. that they take everything away, you are not alone, there other people there, that they hear screams, and that some nurses are rude.
@wisterwilson87746 жыл бұрын
I know it hurts to see your parents hurt, but it hurts much more when you hide it. I know these hospitals are scary and intimidating but if you let it get too far your choice to go may be gone, well that's how it is in Kentucky where i live you can refuse help but if it gets worse the government is obligated to require mental help. If you need help get it. And yeah people are gonna be rude there won't be a place in the world where a person is arrogant or rude, but you have to ignore that because you are there for help and you have a right to receive that help. The screaming could happen, but if its anything like the place im going to then they sort you by what you have so you probably wouldn't be where you could hear that. Please, it's gonna hurt your parents and you more if you don't get help, maybe look into different options because going there is a big thing and it's not the only option you have. I hope with all my heart you receive the help you need and have a full recovery!

ryukdluffy hi my name is Lisa and I am from Austria so I am sorry if my English isn’t the best I am struggling with depression too and I didn’t tell my parents 2 years. It was a hard time cause hiding them was sometimes really hard for me but I thought telling them would hurt them. If I am honest I think it hurt my mom and I think she’s thinks she’s the reason why I am struggling with depression but I keep telling her she’s not. At first my dad didn’t understand and I think he thought I was not telling the truth but after some time has past he realised I didn’t lie. My sister doesn’t understand what’s going on cause she’s too young. I decided to tell my parents cause my boyfriend always told me to do so and I think it was good that he did so because now it’s easier to tell them why I am not in a good mood. I am getting now professionell help by a psycho therapist and I also take anti depressiva. My therapist always asks me if I want to go in a meantal health hospital but I don’t know if it would be a good decision. But I think a therapist could help you with the decision and your family don’t have to know about a therapist I hope my English was not too bad and I hope I could help you and I would be grateful to hear something about you I hope you get better soon, Lisa

Well based off of my experience (I’ve been in and out of those places ever since I was 15 and I’m 21 now) here in Houston, TX these were the following things I was able to bring and what I’d pack I’m offering some tips too lol: •3-4 days worth of clothing with a jacket • a pair of slides •shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, tooth paste, deodorant, brush, a scrunchy, hair gel ~everything has to be alcohol free, no mouth wash~ ~they provide hygiene for you but it’s extremely bad so I’d recommend bringing your own if you can~ • my journal, word search, a book, and my own markers (because the markers they provide on the unit are very old and beat up but a lot of the facilities I went into will provide you a journal talk to your therapist) • 3-4 packs of cigarettes (varies from facility to facility some allow smoking if your over 21+ while others are smoke free) • my iPhone, Airpods, wallet and a lighter were packed for after my stay they will lock stuff like wallets and electronic up and give them to you when you get ready to discharge. Here’s my advice for when going into an acute psych facility •focus on you and your problems •don’t get too close with the other patients •don’t get involved with a person actively having an episode, because things can go badly quick. •don’t judge others around you some people are more sick than others are. •always be alert at all times •do as your told. Go to all of your groups, eat all of your food or even half, take your meds. The more you skip these things and refuse the longer your stay there will be. The day they tell you your discharging and your told to strip your bed your going to be the happiest person! Usually you will be there from 4-7 days depends on what your there for and whether your going to all of your groups and taking your meds or not. But other than that I hope this helps! Great video! • I should note I’m talking about Acute psychiatric facilities not residential treatment centers!

I know I'm late but, I have been struggling a lot with my mental state lately and I'm just really scared. I have the up days and the down days. On the down days, I get the worst experiences. I contemplate suicide sometimes and even self-harmed. I'm scared one day I'll go too far and finally kill myself. So I told my mom and she doesn't understand at all about how I feel. I just got lectured. So I asked if I could go to a mental hospital. She obviously was VERY against this. I then was like, "Can I at least see a therapist?" That was a no too. Though it sucked getting hospitalized 4 times and the cops showing up to my work to take me away. I learned a lot about psych wards and what to order for food and what not to order. Hopefully I can stay out of the psych ward now since my medication seems like it is working minus a couple days where it didn't do anything for me. They take your phone first. They get you in scrubs and that's when you know you might get hospitalized. The first time I couldn't promise them that I would be safe. I reccomend going to the emergency room if you have bad feelings that you might hurt yourself or others. It has helped me but was a lot to go though. They will get you help if you need it. Though I still have some days that are bad I never get so bad that it's an emergency anymore.

I find the best way (for me personally and keep in mind I’m not a licensed mental health professional just friendly advice) to communicate especially about these sensitive topics is just sitting down and calmly staring the facts. Stating how you feel and what you feel you need in a calm, cool factual way has always gotten the best responses for me. Sitting down with your mom after having done research about good reviewed psych wards in your area, that psych wards are not torture chambers, and that you feel you are in need of help and treatment could get you an effective response from your mom. I really do with you the best of luck and I hope the best for you.

It’s completely normal and totally understandable to feel terrified and nervous. It’s an unfamiliar and overwhelming environment where you feel like you won’t know what to expect at first. But you’ll quickly learn that even though it’s an adjustment there’s nothing to fear. You’ll be overwhelmed and a bit emotionally raw especially in the beginning but you’ll be in an environment that’s ultimately there to support, embrace and help you. It really helps to remember that. Everything is temporary. All that fear and anxiety WILL PASS even when it doesn’t feel like it. You’re going to be ok.

Hey, @Canabeera Kingdom (or anyone please) Can you let me know how to let my therapist know that I might think it would be good for me? Or my mum?
@-Bad_Karma- Жыл бұрын
I have problems. And I know it.. Heres examples: + Extreme SH and Sewer slide thoughts + Very bad paranoia + Extreme anxiety + Feeling depressed + Feeling burnt out or not having any motivation to even move or do anything I wanna tell my family to think about getting a therapist for me just to talk about my problems but im scared that if i tell them to much I'll end up in a psych ward or mental hospital. I dont know what to do..

I'm walking this just in case my school mental health professor thinks I need to go to one. ( Yes I said MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSOR because we have 2 different people to handle mental health issues, one is a counselor, who handles cases that are in the moment, but our mental health professor has scheduled times for certain students to come and talk with every week.)(to clarify: students that go to the mental health professor, will go to them in the moment of a crisis. They will NOT go to the counselor. the counselor is for students who aren't mentally ill, or whose parents won't sign the form to see the mental health professor.
