Natasha- if u r still editing all this stuff,,,u r a star. The editing is so good...all the personable stuff u keep in is what makes these great to watch. There are so many travel vids,,,the personality is what separates them. Just simple sh*t like you slipping out of your "presenter voice" into your comfortable accent,, Emma creepin' on the rocks...the magical intro...all that stuff is gold.👍

I absolutely loved them! They made me really want to visit Kumano City when i get to japan! I would have to be a full on critic to find anything worth complaining about in your videos😊 Even trying to find something off (just to help give an outside view) I could only find a couple points where there was wind or waves getting picked up in the mics, and that's just a little bit of audio editing to fix up so really it's not worth mentioning until it gets bad. I love that the videos you guys make are always such a great quality! Thank you so much for the work you all do!

Kumano certainly is a hidden gem of a destination among the Japanese and visitors/expats alike! I've been there about 10 years ago and it was amazing, although you've got to be extra careful making sure you check out the train timetable there since the last train was super early like 5pm, unless you're planning to rent a car.

Yes, the Kumano region is really beautiful. I've been there many, many times. I wouldn't say it's less known, especially the Kumano Kodo is well known even among foreign tourists and there are always tons of buses full with tourists along the Kumano Sanzan, but apart from that it's a chilled and beautiful area. I personally especially love Shirahama. I've walked a lot of the Kumano Kodo, but never in one go. ;P

Kumano is strangely hard to get to from Osaka... It's probably 100-120Km 'straight-line', but it's just not that easy! Your best bet is to Shinkanzen BACK to Nagoya (about 45mins from memory) on the Nozomi, then head back towards Kumanoshi (3hr 15min to 3hr 30mins) on the Nanki Limited Express Kii-Katsuura. As someone who loves Osaka over Tokyo, its one of those places that is actually really hard to get there, where as most other stuff, that is farther away feels so close. Hiroshima is 1hr 30min, Kyoto is 12-14mins, Nara is 1hr, Tokyo was less than 2hrs 30mins. You can even be in Nagano faster than Kumanoshi. But if you're in Osaka and have a Car - woah! The Drive there alone is worth it. Again, don't expect to do the 170Km in record time (its over 3hrs), but there is tunnels and gorges and this stunning river that parallels the road, and an underground tunnel that takes you for a full 360degrees, then bridges and lakes and etc... The drive is an unknown, hidden gem!

The reason why the beach sand around Tokyo looks dark is it's made from volcanic rocks. Of course there are many white (granite, coral, etc.) sand beaches in Japan. And the sand of Shirarahama beach in Wakayama located near Kumano Kodo was imported from the Australian desert!

Do people usually just pass through Nagoya without staying over?
@aibadotcom
@aibadotcom 5 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Last December, I traveled from Hida Takayama to Gifu City before heading to Nagoya. I stayed 1 night at Nagoya before flying home from Chubu Centrair airport. From what I heard from other tourists, many of them like me, travel from Hida Takayama to Nagoya and stay a night or two in Nagoya before flying off from Chubu airport. Nagoya also has a Dome concert venue so people going Nagoya for concerts would stay a night or two there too. I've been to Nagoya twice, my first being a day trip from Osaka and the other was the recent 1 night and honestly, there wasn't much sightseeing places that interested me. That doesn't mean they will not interest you though. But the food is awesome! They're famous for hitsumabushi (eel rice bowl eaten in multiple ways), miso katsu (pork cutlet with miso sauce), kishimen (noodles), tebasaki (chicken wings), tenmusu (tempura shrimp in a rice ball), miso nikomi (udon in a miso broth) and ogura toast (red bean paste and butter on toast). So I spent most of my time shopping for souvenirs and eating when I was in Nagoya.

Hey Emma, is it "disrespectful" to not bow before entering a shrine? I had not seen people bowing before entering a shrine, only bowing when praying. This is the first video I've ever seen that. I know many things aren't a requirement, especially for foreigners, but I want to respect every custom as much as I can when I'm in Japan. I entered 2 temples while there last and did not bow and I feel very bad now? Is it disrespectful to the god of the temple?
