I'm saying this as a Turkish woman - there are no particular dress codes in Turkey. You can wear whatever you like. Of course, don't go inside a mosque wearing mini shorts, but other than that, wear and express yourself however you like! You wouldn't wear inappropriate clothes inside a church so same goes for mosques.

I'm half Turkish my dad is karadenizli. It's so difficult being in this heat and having to wear something less revealing because otherwise my relatives will talk about me and my parents badly. My mom who's a bold Irish lady doesn't care but my dad sometimes tells me to cover up because men there are perverted which bothers me a lot. Why am I the one covering up just because men are staring as if they've never seen bare skin before? I guess you can wear whatever in bigger cities like Istanbul Izmir and co. but in e.g. Samsun it's not that easy unfortunately.

Çok teşekkürler! I'm going to Turkey in a few weeks and I was wondering whether there were some rules about dress code, especially in religious places, I was really worried about not knowing about some cultural elements and therefore disrespecting your culture... Do you have any other suggestions for when you enter mosques apart from not wearing revealing and inappropriate clothes? Is there something that is to be avoided in order not to be disrespectful to your culture and religion? Edit: typo

@@mavera-5777 firstly, thank you for being considerate! Much appreciated. But just remember - not all Turks are Muslim / religious. The numbers are false and show government records as per the citizenship card. It is not my religion and not the religion of many. Many Turks identify as agnostic or atheist. Apart from your outfit, there isn't much else to report from my end in terms of mosques. Some mosques might want you to drape a scarf over your head (orthodox churches do this, too). Obviously don't talk too loud and follow the security / museum staff's advice. Nothing to worry about and don't believe what you read on the internet! Turks come in many colours so culture norms vary, but they're very hospitable people so they won't get offended by anything that you do that easily...

I don't think there is any dress code in Turkey, I found especially the young generation of turkey more fashionable and well dressed, the only time time that you have to wear something modest is when you go to a mosque
