I think you were being too kind for the first point. When I first moved to Turkey in 2002 from America, I blew my nose strongly in a small börek shop. Everybody stopped eating ("I'm full") and got up and left the shop. I was alone with my friend Rafet. "You understand now that's disgusting for us, right?" I surely did. He told me to take it to the restroom if I had to blow my nose again. One thing I would add, "Don't piss off a minibus driver." You may end up meeting Haydar!

I am Bosnian and have lived in Sweden for almost 30 years. Just as every house has its own rules, every country has its own rules. It's nice to know and this video was done with good intentions. These 10 rules are very familiar to me because I have been spending my summers in Turkey for 15 years and my culture and tradition are very close to Turkey. I really can't believe that some people don't respect that or that, God forbid, they argue about food and what belongs to whom. First of all, in my opinion, it is uncultured to come to someone's country and house and not respect and still find faults and teach the host what is his and what is not. I think home education doesn't allow me to do that. As for yogurt, baklava, cevap, etc. we also have that in Bosnia and many cultures have almost the same or similar recipes and that's not a problem in my opinion. We also know that people moved, conquered and settled in different areas, so a lot of things were brought by coming to someone's area, and that, in my opinion, is a kind of wealth. So stop arguing about such things and enjoy them and learn something new, different. Not a single day should pass without us learning something. And God created us different precisely to get to know each other and learn from each other. Greetings to all around the world. Respect each other and spread love 🌏🌎🌍🕊❤️🧿🥰

Hem inek hem de koyun yoğurtları her yerde bulunur ve kaliteleri çok yüksek. 1982 yılında Yunanistan’ın ilk büyük ticari yoğurt markası olan FAGE şirketi kuruldu. Vasat bir süzme yoğurt diyebilirim. (Yunanlıların ilk tepkisi ise, “tadı yoğurt gibi gelmiyor” idi...). Alıştılar fakat hala daha çok aşçılık için kullanıyorlar. Cacık, haydari vs yemekleri yapmak için. Sonra şirket Amerika’ya satış yapmaya başladı. Amerika’daki yoğurt durumu daha da vahim olduğu için çok beğenildi...ve şimdi Amerikalılar için süzme yoğurt, “Greek yoğurt” oluyor. Birkaç yıl sonra Chobani açıldı, sahibi Türk fakat “Greek yoğurt” işi artık işten geçmiş olduğu için o da “Greek Yogurt” olarak tanıttı pazara.

Paula Paula, Russians and Poles live in similar places, but Turks and Arabs do not live in the same place, so we have different cultures with Arabs. We believe in the same religion as the Arabs, but we are different. like cultures. For example, women are not valued much in Arabs, but in Turkish culture, such as prehistoric and republican days, Turkish women are equal to Turkish men. The Arabs betrayed the Turks in the second world war. I am American too and spent a month in Istanbul and Cappadocia.I loved every minute of my stay. I was able to stay in a friend’s apartment while he and his wife went home. The apartment overlooked the Bosporus and the Golden Horn. I never tired of watching the ships pass by and the view of the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Galata Tower, etc. The food was also fabulous and the people were very friendly. I would go back in a heartbeat.

what is amazing is every shop welcomes you when you walk in, you either get called abi or abla which means brother or sister, or teze or amca which means aunty or uncle to older people, respect is a big thing in turkey, very very rare you will see younger sibling call their older sibling by first name either abi or abla, in fact, no young person will address anyone older by just name, eg will be Alyson abla or Tim abi ...

In 2 weeks we'll there, in Antalya. I'm from Hungary, I've been to Türkiye before, but long years ago. I'm looking forward to our holiday. The Turkish - Hungarian relationship is very special. From the ancient, Asian times, later we were bitter enemies in the medieval times, during the Osman occupation. After that many of our great historical person had asylum in Türkiye, Kossuth, Rákóczi, Jozef Bem (a Polish general, who also a Hungarian national hero) and others. As for Atatürk, I read a lot about him. I think he was one of the greatest leaders of all times, many people respects him around the world for reason. Our languages, kind of long forgotten cousins, we have many loanwords from Türkçe, similar grammar etc. I even started to learn Turkish a couple of years ago, I'll see soon if I can use my limited knowledge. Türkiye büyük ve güzel bir ülkedir!

"Don't treat stray animals badly" --- I fell in love with the Turkish culture because of this, seeing everyone petting, feeding and taking care of medical problems with the neighborhood cats and dogs in Istanbul. Heaven to me is watching the sunset outside a side-street pub in Istanbul with an Efes and a cat on my lap.

Turkey is a lot bigger than just Istanbul,, you will not see so much love for the street animals in other places, where I lived the British ex-pats were running charities to feed and get vet treatment for all the strays, and its mostly ex-pats that fund them with a few Turkish people thrown in. In surrounding villages you'll see just how loved the stray animals are when kids set fire to kittens, shoot birds out the trees and Turkish neighbours POISON or SHOOT your dog in your own garden.

I’ve stayed in TRNC which is predominantly Turkish for 7 years and I’ll be leaving real soon but I absolutely love the people, place and culture. The language (Turkish) is beautiful, the people are great, the dramas (series) are my favorite. I absolutely love it here and I’m sad that I’ll have to live. I will definitely return to visit as much as possible. Also I really love that they love cats and dogs. Not to mention how very very very beautiful the country is.

I went to Turkey last year for the first time and I have to say it was a fantastic experience, everyone was super friendly, the streets were safe and clean, things were fairly cheap and good quality, the food was amazing and I loved seeing the cats and dogs roaming the streets - they were remarkably well looked after and clean. Amazing country.

But it's not true, I lived there, there are modern Turks who have cats, dogs, birds etc but the vast majority of them think animals in the house is unclean I visited 3 times b4 I decided to try to live there and made loads of Turkish friends, who were totally horrified when they visited me to see I had dogs I brought from the UK with me.......and they refused to visit my home again ,,,, no loss really I found out quite quickly who were the ignorant ones.

@@jennielilley1067 That's not fair. Nothing he said in the video contradicts the Turks love of animals.. Like he said, they feed them in the streets and take care of them. Turks believe animals have the right to exist, unlike here in the "civilized" US where we euthanize millions of innocents cats and dogs for the crime of not being adopted by a human. In Turkey, it's actually a crime to kill or even harm a street animal- even for the Government. There are some old-fashioned Turks that don't believe in pets in their homes. But that mentality is less and less in the younger generation, and even those without pets still often love and feed the street animals. 2 of my Canadian friends are terrified of cats and one hates dogs. Am I going to smear all Canadians for that? I pity you if you travel to many country around the world, as I've never seen a country love and treat their animals with such compassion.

@@jennielilley1067 it's because it's not allowed in Islam to keep dog inside. We believe that angels won't enter in that house as long dog is there! But to have dog outside is no problem. With cats it's different, they're considered as clean and blessed animals, or any other animal, such as birds or fish are ok to be kept inside the house. But this doesn't mean to treat dog bad, just keep them outside. So it's part of the culture and believes.... greetings!

At the peak of their population, Latins had around several hundred thousand people located in inner Roma and sparsely around it. Romanian language is closest to original latin language because Republic of Roma had a great impact on the land but that does not make you ethnic latins. It doesn't make spanish, portuguese and definetely not any American people latins. %99 of ethnic latins are mixed with Italic people.

There are certain characteristics of the Turks are missing in the Pakistanis who are really very divided in their beliefs on simple things like you shouldthis way or that way respecting one another as le of the same country ! They are impressed by the European culture and do not try to use their own ! Some cannot speak the English and others do not try to speak their own ! in Dirilis we notice that no one uses English at all ! I could say a lot more about what is so impressive about them but let’s get on to others ! The subjects for drama and the quality of the productions is so different ! I am watching Filinta and I find the are so well dressed up ! There is an uniformity ! Every person in the street is wearing the red Rumi topi or the Fez cap which was in vogue inmate 19th century !

I visit turkey every year 2 to 3 times , they are very polite people and they are always willing to help us around .... I'm Greek and as for the baklava I can tell you that the Turkish baklava is much much better it melts in your mouth plus the butter they use is amazing....I always eat there and always bring back home ...

In Turkey, the shops make baklava generally with pistachios. But home-made baklava is made with wallnuts(at least my mom does it that way). I like it with walnuts much more. And I heard that Greeks also do it with walnuts. In conclusion, I think I might like Greek baklava more than the traditional(with pistachios) Turkish baklava.

As someone who lived in Turkey for 3.5 years I can honestly say, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there nothing but the kindest and respectful people. Love Chi tea, and idk what food people were complaining about because I loved it, especially ekmek (flat bread) omg loved it. Once went to a restaurant and saw trout on the menu, I asked how fresh it was and the waiter said, "come here." I followed him to a tub that had trout swimming around. I said, "That one please."

The only thing I miss about living in Turkey is the weather and a few friends, I don't miss "Yabanchi" tax, I don't miss being ill there and getting treated like sh*t by nurses, even the Oncologist was a bastard! I don't miss being given the wrong CHEMO despite paying 1000's of lira for it. If I hadn't of returned to the UK I would be dead as the wonderfully nice kind Turkish medical experts were giving me Chemo for Testicular cancer instead of breast Cancer, WHY? because it was spare, it had already been paid for by someone else and they were charging me for it too, if I hadn't of returned to the UK and my properly trained Oncologist here hadn't of been able to get the notes (I had to pay £300 to the Turkish so called @snake oil' Oncologist for, and got them translated I would never of known and UK ongologist told me I wouldn't of survived 3 sessions,, I've been told a few times I should write a book about the years I lived there.

@Nikos My husband and I went to a trip to the Greek Islands starting from Mykonos, over Santorini to Crete a couple years ago. Totally beautiful locations ! 😍 People were almost without exception helpful and friendly. 🤗 We were amazed by the friendliness and hospitality of the greek people! Some of the elderly even spoke Turkish with cute romaic / greek accents😃 Like anywhere else in the world, if you are (as a tourist) respectful and aware of the local culture and social etiquette they will welcome you with open arms. And that's exactly what those lovely Greek islanders did! 🤗

I was in London last year. And for the first time, I learned that blowing your nose in public is a normal thing in Europe. It was really interesting, people do it so casually that it began to seem normal to me too. But thanks to my Turkish genes, I was never able to blow my nose in public myself. Turkey is a gorgeous country! Full of unbelievable historical cites, beautiful beaches and towns, exciting tourists tours, and great food! It is a kingdom of baklava and black Turkish coffee, and most importantly they are great hosts! They make you feel so welcomed and special! Istanbul, Antalya, Alanya, Cappadocia, Kas, Bodrum, etc...all beautiful on a different way! We've been there and planing to visit again soon!

I was in Turkey for nearly a year, and loved every moment of it. The most loving people ever, and would do anything for you to make you feel welcomed. I never ate so well in my life. The term "Demirbaş" is used for "fixed assets" or "assets to be kept in long term" e.g. watertaps, shower, closets, even some non-removable cupboards in a household are considered as "demirbash". Chales XII of Sweden chased by Russian army escaped into Turkish territory, Ottomans first welcomed him and reserved a location for him. However he stayed too long and become a nuisance for the Ottoman Empire managers because they got lots of complaints from Turkish people neighboring Charles XII and his men. Due to his long stay he was nicknamed as "Demirbaş Şarl". Eventually he returned to Sweden only to be murdered by his own men. He is the one who brought the recipe of "IKEA" meatballs.

I’ve wanted to visit Turkey since I was in the 6th grade. In world history we had to pick a county to do a year end report on I chose Turkey over Russia, now in 6th grade the Cold War was at its height. But that’s when I feel in love with Turkey,fast forward to 2022 I’m 53 and this fall I’m finally taking a 25 day trip thru Turkey. Maybe I’ll never leave ❤️❤️❤️

When I was growing up in uk in the 60’s/70’s, we always took our shoes off entering our home and there was always rows of shoes/slippers inside the front door under the coat rack, same in all my friends homes too.

I am Greek and I can say that baklava, kataifi, “greek” coffee, kebab, donner are 100% Turkish. I always say to my friends from Thessaloniki (I’m from Athens), that baklava is Turkish. And they say no , and I call them idiots 😂 We have those sweets too in Greece since we’ve been for 400 years under Ottoman occupation, which is logic that food would be mixed in both cultures somehow. Like imam, briam we cook these here in Greece, but are Turkish. Gyros is Greek by the way 😁All these syrupy pastries are from Arabic, Turkish or other middle east or central asian countries, I guess ‘

I hope for a better government in Turkey. Erdogan’s regime has to be put down ages ago. Hearing on the news that he puts to prison many Turks that oppose to him is making me so angry. His own people in jail!. What to expect for a leader like him. Being friendly to neighbors? I guess not, but anyway. Hope to better and more fair elections this time in Turkey. Actualy it doesn't matter what country the foods come from. Our (Turkish) culture and cusine have influenced by Greeks and Arabs. And as a tourism researcher i can easily say that there are serious arguements about some foods' origins like kebab, lahmacun (a kind of pizza with mince). Greetings neighbor Greece from TR.

@@haruyanto8085 in Switzerland we discuss politics a lot, my turkish boyfriend is sometimes annoyed with the amount of politics we're talking. But I guess it has a lot to do with with the amount of influence we can take on swiss politics. With some motivation and some time at your hand, you can introduce new laws if enough people agree, without being a politician yourself, while in Turkey even politically interested people might be agonized towards the topic. Still my experience is, that if you are well informed, you can even talk politics with Turks because it shows them that you are interested in their history and culture and that is very much appreciated by turkish people.

I think it is ok to discuss about politics and religion...if you can do it in a normal issue focussed way. If you are too emotional, a religious radical or nationalist, racist, then it's better not to discuss, because you can't discuss.

I worked on an EU project in Turkey on and off for 2 years I was very fortunate to be taken by my interpreter to Mr Ataturk's Mausoleum and the museum next door which explains his involvement bringing about the Turkish state. The doors to his Mauselium have embossed words to the young of Turkey from a speech he made in around 2936 [I thenk] The words resonate with young Turkish people to this day. A lovely country with lovely people.

​@@biltr.3076Actually,Turkish was also written in Arabic script,so Turkish has an ancient relation with Arabic during the Ottoman Empire.But After Atatürk who gave it a western look, it has been written in the latin script since now.Turkish and Arabic are both interesting languages and once they were written in the same way. Not only Turkish is beautiful language ,but Arabic is the most wonderful and the beautiful languages,Both languages have their own position but no language can either be compared with Arabic as it's the language of Holy Quran and the most beautiful voice is only of Holy Quran
