About a month ago, I dropped my bike on my ankle and broke my fibula. I was only going about 5 mph at the time (stopped hard and dropped it when a person blew a stop sign and almost hit me during a brief gas stop - during the only 5 minutes I was out of the woods). I was wearing the Alpinestars Tech 7s at the time. Fracture was stable and I was able to get away with a walking ankle brace after a week of rest. My Orthopedic specialist believes that the break would have been a lot worse and likely would have required surgery if I had been wearing less protective boots. Or, ya know, flip-flops (thongs for the UK crowd). Great video. Thanks for posting this.

Hope the ankle is coming along well now! Sorry to hear that happened to you but so glad that you were wearing the Tech 7s, like you say! Great investment.

Thanks for your comprehensive "sermon" (your words), Grace. I always wear full protection, even in the heat of summer. But Thailand is another kettle of fish. Gotta try out a MX helmet and goggles, my ADV helmet is quite heavy. And as you said, poor ventilation when riding slowly. Which we do all the time. Yesterday 110 km in 3 hours, 85% unpaved - in Bavaria! Happy days, Günter/Nürnberg

Yes, the heat brings a different set of challenges when it comes to gearing up! But totally worth it. Glad to hear that you have been out enjoying the trails!
