Excellent video! Going to order some stuff from you tonight. Would really appreciate a video explaining the installation of the shaft protector. Not necessarily step by step video, just some pointers on the process.

To install the shaft protector, you just need to remove the lever off the spline, then slide the protector into place, which is flush against the engine case and the bracket of the front sprocket guard. The reason people have complained that it's a pain to install is because, to easily remove the bolt that holds the shifter onto the spline, you'd normally remove the sprocket guard first. But, in this case you can't do that, because the sprocket guard has to be in place before you install the shifter shaft saver. This means that you can't fully undo the bolt that holds the shifter lever onto the spline - you can only loosen the bolt, slide the lever off, then slide it back on again. Some people find that loosening the bolts on the sprocket guard allow enough movement to make this process easier, while still keeping the sprocket guard in place as required.

Thanks for your video. On the shifter shaft saver some have suggested the case is soft and it will likely push simply push a whole/crack the case. Thoughts on that? Thanks

I've been using this style of shaft saver on my KLX230 for years, as have many others, as well as on the CRFs. I've absolutely pretzeled the shift lever without doing any damage at all to the shaft or the case, and I've never heard of case damage from any one. I think it's fairly clear that your shifter lever will give way before there's any damage to the case, given the broad distribution of forces with the thickness of the shaft saver. Of course, if you used some kind of super stiff, super strong aftermarket lever, maybe that wouldn't pretzel and maybe that would transfer more force. But I wouldn't recommend that. Always choose which component you want to be sacrificial piece (and make sure it's steel, so you can bend it back). In this case, pretzel your shifter lever and preserve your shift mechanism and engine case.

Where has crf 450 gone?

The CRF450 is made in Japan, so it's more of a luxury item here in Thailand. We don't have much aftermarket support for it and it's about 2.5 times the price of a 300L. So, it doesn't make sense for me to use the CRF450 for tour customers, or for me to provide aftermarket support and fit outs for the 450. Whereas the 300L is cheap and cheerful and plentiful here, and supporting them with aftermarket parts makes a lot of sense! I still have my 450 right here with me, but it's my personal bike. :)
