Hey Coolguy! Cool username. There's no reason not to do this, but I've heard from Sean Kearnan (way more experienced in Quora than me) that results vary. Something fantastic on Quora may flop on Medium and vice versa. I'd argue you could do the same thing on Medium - you're welcome to write several posts on one topic and see how it performs, or even search out similar stories/topics and see the general appetite for those stories, and go from there.

Just a quick question: should you be consistent with your topics? Is it okay if you post an article about bridges one day and an article about mindfullness the next? Or is it better to have a theme for your channel?

It definitely helps to be consistent with topics, but I wouldn't worry about it too much - especially if you're just starting out. In fact, in the beginning, it can be helpful to publish lots of different topics to see what resonates most with your audience. Besides, you can always hone in on multiple topics. For instance, I still write about travel and social media sometimes even though my main audience wants to read content about writing/blogging. Hope that helps!

Both! Short stories don't have quite the same audience as self-helpy type stuff, but it is possible. PS I Love You is a great example of a pub that takes and promotes short stories on Medium.

Depends a lot on the curators - it's an art, unfortunately! I've had mine curated in less than an hour, but sometimes it takes longer - up to two weeks. I have even had one curated like a year after it *wasn't* curated, so you really do never know!

Great question. There's a fairly long list here (help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/213477928-Medium-Rules) but it mostly boils down to not being a d*ck. No hate speech, no harassment, no posting private communication without permission. Other than that, you are 100% good to go!

Hello Zulie! I wanted to ask you about recommending something in my articles on Medium. I would like to write about language learning, but learning a new language doesn't work without resources so...is it OK to recommend the readers, for example, a textbook (with a link to Amazon for instance) I really liked and used to study e.g. Japanese, or will it be taken as an advertisement and my article could not be curated because of that? I really recommend branching out into anything that piques your interest! On medium, niches tend to be much broader than traditional blogging. Anything that you can write about intelligently and passionately will be of interest to your readers.

Medium has blocked my account and put under investigation as I had some affiliate promotion links in my 2 articles. They don't support the payment method that's widely used in most of the countries. So, there was no other way to monetize the articles without dropping affiliate links. This is strange. People won't invest time and energy for free to grow Medium ofcourse. That's why, Medium should use most popular Payment method that's being widely used across the world.

I like to do a medium writing on aurvedic medicine in our country because in this corona period my country sri lanka has manage it well and also did a parliamentary election with out a problem. At the moment, there is no way to be paid directly by Medium or Stripe if your country is not allowed. However, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from writing on Medium right now. You can totally sign up, start writing, build a portfolio and start getting followers now. You won't be paid by Medium directly YET, and I know that sucks and is unfair and I really hope Medium/Stripe change their policy soon, but a) there are other ways to earn money, like driving people to your own blog, using affiliate links and so on and b) eventually, I hope, Medium/Stripe will monetize for additional countries. If that's the case, you'll be established when that happens. Hope that makes sense and sorry I can't help more. I am always trying to find a workaround as it affects a lot of people, and I really believe that everyone deserves to be compensated for their writing, but as of yet, I have not found any good workarounds.

Yep! Medium only curates English stories, but on Medium, your money comes from reads, not curation. As long as you can access an active community in the language you're writing in, you'll find readers and hence money. Go for it! I can't say for sure, but it sounds like you have the three main factors that contribute to success: persistence, passion, and a plan. I'd recommend you try to get into Medium publications about those topics, or even create your own if you can't find a good one. Once you start building an audience, you'll be on your way.

All depends the way you do it. If your story is just an ad, it's unlikely to do well. If it's a well-written story about the company, a challenge you faced before using the product, or even an in-depth review, you might have better luck!
