I always group items by color, if I don't have enough one item. Also, I always have a shelf of red items. Red always pulls the eye to a display. Loved the virtual "hunt".

I have the Del Monte canisters - my dad worked for Del Monte Corp., headquartered in downtown SF for 40 years! The promotional set was produced in the 1980s, and I kept mine for all these years. Too bad kids of the latest generation(s) are rarely interested, so I'll probably need to find someone outside the family to pass them on.

This is a great video! I’m getting ready to move into an antique mall, and there were so many inspiring ideas here. I love how some vendors filled empty spaces, whether it was keys in a bowl (I’m totally stealing that idea), or stacking those canisters to take up space in a completely different way.

Oh, this was just so enjoyable to view! My particular favorites were the black, white, yellow space along with all the colored glassware groupings. These vendors definitely have good eyes for displaying their products and drawing people in. Thanks for taking us along on this walkthrough.

Since I don’t have access to any electrical outlets in my booth, using battery timer candles seem to help bring just a tad bit more light and warmth onto the shelves. I find them alllllllll the time while out thrifting, so I wouldn’t worry about purchasing them from a big box store! 😁

I don't have electricity, either. I've been playing with the idea of fairy lights on a timer, but I can't decide if they'll eat through batteries too quickly.

@@chandaharkins4418 I did try fairly lights recently during Christmas! I can confirm the batteries do NOT last very long. Unless you plan on coming in to replace them every few days or so, depending on the battery, it might not be worth all the effort.

I don’t have that exact video, but do have one about pricing theory in general-it’s called “Are Your Prices too Low?” I would spend some time at your favorite local places seeing what things are going for to help as a starting point :)

I loved everything! My biggest challenge that no one addresses is how to store items, until I want to use them. If everything is put away, how do you locate all the "like" colors? Or do you store everything on open shelves and pull from there? AND you've said not to keep much stored away, as it isn't cost effective, but if you want like colors, don't you have to store them away? LOL You have helped me so much, since I found you! THANK YOU!

Hi Pam. I usually built my displays as I shopped. I started with a theme in mind, then when I found a few things that fit that theme, I would keep buying until I had what I needed. You’re right, I’m not a huge fan of storing a ton of back inventory, and building those big, beautiful displays takes a lot of items! But you can incorporate the same idea on a smaller scale :)

You’re channel is a big help to me as I start a booth of my own! Question: Have you addresses tagging in a video? Like stickers Vs hang tags, hand written vs typed or branded, just a price vs a story. And does it matter. Thanks!

Hi! I haven’t addressed tagging specifically. Ever mall has different requirements, but it can be helpful to give your items an item # if the sales team will record it. A little bit of branding with your tags won’t hurt, but in my experience it also won’t make or break your business as well :)

There can be an issue when the booth is too sparse… especially if you’re in a mall where the customers like to dig 😊 It’s good to know what kind of shoppers your mall attracts then try and cater to their liking

I get compliments on my booth. People say it’s pretty and organized and clean. My sales don’t reflect what’s said though. The booth across from me does very very well and seem to sell LOTS of smalls and has super low prices, I’m not sure how they do it. I watch people come and go directly to their booth then smile at me, compliment my booth and walk away. So disheartening.

That is a bummer :( It sounds like you’re competing with the person across the aisle from you, and it’s tough when another seller creates a “false bottom” in the pricing market by pricing their items so low. They don’t realize that it hurts everyone else in the mall and most likely their pocketbook too 😫 Is there another location you could try that has higher end dealers? Or maybe even another spot in your same location, that’s away from the cheap booth?

@@LostFoundDecorI decided to close up at the end of this month. This was my 2nd location and was a much larger booth than I’ve ever had. I’m going to stick with my smaller booth in the town I live in -6 minutes away vs 30 minutes away. 😊

I am the highest selling dealer psf almost every month in the mall where I sell here in TN....my booth is a stacked, teeter-tottering mess, always, with no direction, sense of decor, rhyme or reason....If you want to do well, skip this video. The time you are spending trying to be a decorator you could be spending out FINDING BETTER S\%#.... Keep it moving...smalls = work (choose wisely and price low)

Hi Dave, thanks for taking the time to watch my video. And congrats on your high sales! Often booths as yours describe attract other dealers or pickers, at least in my experience, which can sometimes mean lower prices and smaller profits. Of course, if you do a lot of volume that can work. I prefer to sell less but for higher profit margins, just makes less work for me :) So there’s a few ways to slice the cake.
