I think what he said about the flag was smart. He didn't put an opinion on it, he just went with the facts. He acknowledged that it's Freedom of Speech to fly it, he didn't say anything about what he believed the flag meant, and although there was a government building with the flag in SC that he thought should be taken down, I do agree that it's a problem for the government to use it. The reason why I agree is because the flag was for the confederate government, and under that government there was slavery, but since slavery is illegal and morally wrong, the last thing we would need is for people to start making conspiracy theories or at least get ideas about it.

I think history and southern pride is important. You can't change history. You can't change the fact that there were good people on both sides. Great men who marched valiantly into cannon and gun fire for their state, families, and personal honor. The Civil War is overshadowed by slavery when there were other causes involved. One major of which was state rights; not letting the federal government have too much power (look where that got us now). I'm not even white (mixed), yet I support your ability to speak freely and express yourself in anyway, whether it is morally right or wrong. Heritage, not hate.

He’s got excellent points. It’s true that most people that fly the confederate flag aren’t flying it for support of slavery, but for heritage and history. A lot of confederate soldiers that fought weren’t fighting for slavery, most never did and would never own a slave. When the Union soldiers captured a confederate soldier they asked him “why are you fighting? You don’t own any slaves.” He replied with “I’m fighting because you are down here.” A lot of it was simply defending their home states and southern heritage, the Union did invade the south.

Southerners remind people daily that the stars and bars were in support of human trafficking. The culture they imitate are from the enslaved. Blue grass to country, food to hunting...working the land to building. It's from that era. Their heritage was kidnapping, human trafficking and rape.
