Living in USA since 8 years, believe me future students, if you choose MS in US now thinking you will get a job and h1b and everything will be fine , then that’s a bad idea. 1. OPT STEM OPT will be challenged, there is a possibility that you graduate from university and opt might be reduced to 1 year from 3. 2. H1B is going to be very difficult. They will increase the salary to be eligible for h1b, which can be level 3 wage/above 120k etc. and getting that salary out of college is very difficult and only after earning this salary you will be eligible for h1b ‘lottery’. 3. H1B RFE/Denial rates are gonna skyrocket again, so you will never find a peace unless you work for top 20 companies. I have seen 4 years of trump regime in usa and the only people who survived are extremely talented or those for whom luck favored. This time trump is elected with more majority in house and senate so passing laws is going to be a lot easier for him.

Yes, presently, by virtue of either of the spouse being green card holders, a child will get citizenship by birth. Thereafter, the government will be forced to allow citizenship of other parent.

Been in the us since 20 yrs - My honest opinion… do not come to USA to study, if you are middleclass, taking out loans and expect an ROI … whichever administration, you will never get a greencard and even getting an h1b is a big issue .. atleast in the past you could save money , but iff late everything has become so expensive that you wont be able to save money or buy a house … it is absolutely pointless to live this kind of life …. If your aim is to immigrate then goto a country that has a straight path towards immigration… if you are married and just want a better life for yourself and some foreign exposure, then come to usa.. have kids and then return without getting into all of this settling. In crap .. us citizenship is the best gift that you could have given to your kids

Thanks for clarifying, i just googled and found that if you are living in Aus for 10 years or more then the children can get it. "Section 12 of the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 provides that a person born in Australia is an Australian citizen if a parent of the person is an Australian citizen, or a permanent resident, at the time the person is born or the person is ordinarily resident in Australia for the first 10 years of the person's life."

Nothing is Black and white on what he said especially regarding child’s citizenship. He is mainly targeting illegal immigrants who cross border and give birth here and that kid gets citizenship for which rest of Americans pay the taxes. He is correct on what he says! Even if it happens, legal visa holders would be exempted because lot of corporates would lobby him coz they need H1/F1 people and their family 😅 Based on his previous presidency, he tried to pass lot of executive orders on H1B but most of those could not pass by the congress.. so next 4 years will be some challenges for H1b and L1
