I had to do a little test to see what type of container is best to use in an ultrasonic cleaner. I want to be able to use other cleaning solutions while keeping the ultrasonic cleaner clean. Hopefully, this will be of some use to you.

Well, this disproves what I've read elsewhere, that plastic is not a suitable container as it disrupts the ultrasonic cleaning action. Thanks for the video.

You should try a plastic bag. I usually use gas in my to clean small engine parts this way. Great video. :)

I would suggest the glass container only because it's heavier and is less likely to tip over. I’d also be worried that the plastic container would warp and buckle when you used heat; plastics not meant to be heated can warp at surprisingly low temperatures, and a container that warped could spill.

Outstanding test run. I had no idea that it would matter at all. Having said that, It is very likely that it matters more WHERE in the tub you put the item to be cleaned. Note, the holes seem to be specific places and just a short distance away, no holes. Do a double test, using the same medium, for example glass and repeat the test a second time moving the container to one side about 1 cm. See if the hole moves the same 1 cm. I suspect it is a sonic wave converging in that spot to cause the hole and obviously more aggressive cleaning.

I have noticed it has most "power" in the middle of the tank. I could probably try a test like this in the future.

I have found using no container works faster overall. Depending on the size of what you are cleaning and what cleansing solvent you use it sometimes makes more sense to use a smaller container and using a longer cycle to achieve the desired result. Interesting test and great video!

That is true, the containers do take away some cleaning power.

We always used glass/pyrex (I think it’s also called borosilicate glass) glassware in our ultrasonic baths in our laboratory with great results.

Great question ❓ .main thing is keeping the inside of the ultra sonic cleaner clean as possible because they are not cheap

That's the thing, cleaning it can be a tedious task if the part was particularly dirty.

Every time I've seen someone use an ultrasonic cleaner with another container, they used a Pyrex dish. 🤷
