Great video. I find that pay varies widely based on your experience in the field. But also a lot of hospitals that I've worked at are unionized. (I live in California). So they end up paying all their various sonographers (echo, vascular, general) all on the same pay scale. So basically a general ultrasound sonographer with 6 years of experience gets paid the same as a vascular tech or echo tech with the equivalent experience. That's just my experience at unionized hospitals. But I cannot really comment on non-unionized facilities.

Hello! I am working on my prerequisites in hopes to apply for a sono program. I’ve heard that many sonographers in the field can be unfriendly as co-workers? Have either of you experienced this? Sorry I know it’s off topic.

Hi there!! You got this. This is a great topic I can do a full video on it! But yes I have experienced it and it will happen. But you learn to get through it and stay in your own lane! But there are all different types of personalities in this field. It’s best to try to stay out of drama. I have another video on this - things I wish I knew before going into the field & I talk about it in detail. Also things to avoid - the drama. It’s in any field tho. Thanks for asking!

I'm starting a DMS program this fall and during our orientation they informed us that we may need to go out of state for our clinical rotations. I'm not sure how I feel about that!! I'm in California and find it hard to believe that no hospital, medical offices, surgery centers do not have the room to take students. Can I advocate for myself to find on my own or would I be crossing the line? Also, I'm assuming this is an expense I will have to take on. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

California is very oversaturated from what I've heard on social media however it doesn't hurt to advocate for yourself!

Do you think that cardiology sonography is a good career for someone who is going to start studying at age 50 or older?

Yes any age to start something new learn new things is great. I am 45 and I have thought the same thing. My mom told me 70 year old lawyer just graduated law school. My mother said yes my dear do it if you want to. Sending blessings your from on high. You can do it!!!

That is a good question! It's a great field depending on whoever wants to go into it! Only you know whats best for you! I have had students in their 50s before and I work with techs in their 60s!

Cardiac sonographers work in the Cath lab and Endo as well…Neuro sonographers make the most….according to the internet

Hi! MFM is general sonography (just specialized OB/GYN) and their pay range is 77k-150k depending on city/ state/ doctors' office! it really depends and is variable.
