Yeah a lot of times I see that and it's always the birth parents trying to connect to their kid like they had that long standing relationship. Finding Carter upset me when it came out because I had wrote a story about a girl name Carter who was adopted alongside another girl but their home life was still horrible so they had to stick together to survive it. And then this came out and I was like great, I’ll never be able to publish a book that’s just named Carter now 😂 I loved the show though.

I feel like if I were Carter's twin and I was meeting my kidnapped sister for the first time, my reaction would not be "Wow, her life was so amazing. I wish my life was like that." As a person with basic human empathy, my reaction would be more like "Wow, that person who just found out that the woman who raised her was actually her kidnapper and that her entire life was a lie might be dealing with some pretty heavy shit right now. I should see if I can do anything to help."
