Seems to me if you're not up for a £900 used Nikon D500 for sports and action, the Canon 7D at under £200 used gives you a pretty great alternative. Pair it with a £300 70-200 f4 and you've got a 320mm f4 sports setup and 8 frames per second for £500-600.
