Yup. All that stuff you said is true and more.... I started 20 years back learning the basics on vinyl. Wouldn't want it any different, nowadays i can scratch like a pro & bpm analyze a new track by heart, no fancy equipment needed. In some (R&B and Hiphop) clubs where I get booked, they still use Technics SL1200 record players. We play on these in combination with Serato DJ. Love it!

I've been mixing on vinyl 25 years + , at home I love mixing timecoded vinyl with Serato (endless amount of tracks) but when I do a gig its vinyl only. It's almost a novelty these days for the punters to see a vinyl only DJ and thankful its well appreciated.. It's all about practice, practice, practice and never stop learning (fucking expensive though)...

hello jon why thoses who play 3style competition called themself Real Djs? and they have all those technologie that help them to do all the hard stuff that old Djs back in day do it ?.....old Djs didnt have those technologie plus any kid 6 8 years old can do it now....

I still use vinyl for all of my sets. I'm lucky though, living in London there are more venues that are vinyl DJ friendly. Also myself and my partner only have vinyl DJs playing at our events and we bring our own turntables to use at our events.

Completely agree It was more expensive just to start, very heavy carrying records, amount of times till i felt confident to scratch in night club without skipping needle, had to know every song by heart as no screen to show anything etc In the end, love of music

Hi Jon, great informative video! I've always admired the guys that can dj with the turntable because it requires the same knowledge of playing an instrument. Don't you think that the modern technology (cdj, computer, etc) has stealed the "art" from the djing?

AhAhaha to me nothing better then vynil development that techniques like u said feel it & bpm on beat. Easier now with pc dj no creativity just my oppion i still love djing old-school style with headphones even with laptop no synchronization button no cheating lool 😆💪👍👈✌

Old school dj with vinyl was extensive, hard and at times frustratting.... but when you got it right the pleasure was great and a true art.

I started as a radio DJ 45 years ago on a college station. There was nothing but vinyl back then so you had to learn how to spin vinyl, slip cue and segue songs. That was way before disco and hip-hop. During my radio career, I transitioned from vinyl to carts to CDs and finally to digital files on a computer. I did my first club gig in 1974 and only did a few live DJ gigs since. But as you said, vinyl was a lot different.

mein plattenspieler verzerrt bei vocals und hat auch extrem schlechte bass wiedergabe, ic hhabe schon einen anderen phono verstärker probiert aber das hilft nicht. weistt du worans liegt ? oder kennst du ein laden in Ddorf der mir weiterhelfen kann?

@@nourdinh.1450 also der Spieler ist sehr alt, nh neue nadel/system nur zum testen holen lohnt ja nicht, meinst du man kann im ein Plattenladen gehen und dort kann man evtl austesten was kaputt ist
