My Razer 75% v4 has the worst switches of all time, they double-tap often. (Editing for clarity) I bought a mouse first, it started double clicking switches, deleted a user's profile in the company we do IT for, almost had problems using it as a daily driver for that reason. Bought a keyboard just for "work" (a large purchase for me, but i need a "hardy" keyboard since typing is all i do all day) Keyboard was messing up in the same way. I was frustrated as hell. I had already contacted them about the mouse issues, i wasn't going to "buy a new mouse" while waiting for them to send me one, and i'm certainly not sending a company my mouse and money ahead of time, to be told later that "we found there was nothing wrong, thanks". I'm "pro". Officially. But the mouse? Warranty won't cover it, warranty is over. And swapping switches in the keyboard doesn’t resolve it. I think it's electrical. Best move I made was to get an 8bitdo but I'm done with Razer because SWITCHES ARE ALL THEY DO. Seriously. The rest could be done by anyone else. It's switches and RGB. And yeah. Sorry Razer, I dropped your mice when you refused to cover a product in warranty because of "what retailer it was bought from" Asus Spatha X - best mouse swap I did for my hand size And the switches are replaceable.
@HipyoTechАй бұрын
@@seanv5306 Are they really not covering the double tap? From what they told me they should send replacement switches to anyone with the issue
@seanv5306Ай бұрын
@@HipyoTech no, thankfully they WOULD cover the keyboard, I just don't feel like waiting, spending the time, etc. when they refuse to cover the mouse I bought on a big box online retailer, sold and shipped by them :) I got my keyboard at a BigBox blue store. They were perfectly happy servicing that, but my mouse which has a double tapping mouse sensor, and my experience streaming and gaming at a "pro" level has left me "not interested" in dealing with them overall. Also, did you really learn from the ball bearings? Because my first thought was "just bigger bearings" and tell me you didn't think the same thing >.>

@artysaltАй бұрын
These metal ball bearings are conductive, which means that there's a high risk of shorting something in the keyboard when it's powered on. Even just one of these moving around on the PCB is sufficient to destroy the keyboard is you're unlucky enough. NEVER do this, because the risks are way greater than the potential gains. To realize how electrically important this is, imagine that even the glue of the tape that you'll use in a tape mod needs to be non-conductive.

Bonus info: People who have used tapes with conductive glue for their tape "tempest" mod have even accidentally shorted their keyboard's battery and it led to a fire. This has happened even to KZbinrs, such as Switch & Click. Stay safe, people and to be extra sure, avoid the tape mod altogether if your keyboard is wireless (has a battery).

I have never done a tape mod, but I would suggest kapton tape because it is commonly used in electronics or maybe platers tape, it leaves no residue after being removed. I'm familiar with red platers tape from Saint Gobain.

Yes and no. Normal shinethroughs, you are correct, the light will be below the letters. The front-facing "stealth" shinethrough, i.e. if the legends are on the front, not on the top, south-facing works better. So it comes down to a weird word... preface... preveren.... preference? Yes, that one.

i agree, and that comes from someone who never uses rgb on their keyboards, south facing LEDs 100% have their place in boards that want nicer RGB, plus who is genuinely going to buy this keyboard and then go and try put GMK keycaps on it, pretty much noone, and if you want to use cherry profile keycaps that badly just buy a different keyboard or use long pole switches

the main reason i like razer v4 75 (i have the non pro) is the implementation of some - enough games with the RGB control, like explosions / cooldowns etc, which you find in all razer rgb keyboards, you dont enjoy it as much as when you first get it but i do miss it when i use any other keyboard, the v4 75 even tho a bit overpriced, still hit the mark for my "Custom like" / enthusiasts features even tho its not rly close to some good ones/ more expensive ones. the added wrist rest which i cant do without is also very good, all other custom keyboards i liked either dont include one or its not magnetic etc, which i prefer cause i move the keyboard around very much especially in fps, and the magnetic one always sticks to the keyboard when moved instead of normal ones which you have to move together and its irritating when on a fast paced game. other than that i hate the fact that alot of people had issue with the switches its very bad for a product that costs around 180-200euros, even tho i immediately changed the orange ones with cheap linears i had but hand lubed which had a major difference with both performance in fast games and sound/feel. every other company offers different sets of switches with purchase and razer stuffing those oranges in your throat where you like it or not is BS even tho i overall like the keyboard. additionaly pbt keycaps should be included instead of abs, they were good quality but regardless they already starting to be on the smooth side now and lost half of their "matte/grip" coating. if you factor everything in like buying extra switches - linears / buying PBT keycaps etc it well around 300euros which is way to much for the setup and you can get pretty much whatever other keyboard you like. the pro version is just a ripp off from other keyboards like azoth etc, but it was bound to be the next step for them. but 300e? lmao...

I HOPE that screen isnt the only thing added to make it "pro". I could really buy this cause 75% Nvm, saw the price. Looks like every company thinks can charge 300 usd for a mid/bad keyboard

People use other keycaps profiles you know, not only cherry. You could try too, they sound thockier, simple as that. OEM, SA etc. and you will not have problems with north facing rgb leds :P

Interesting thought if you wanted to do the ball-bearing experiment. Take the bearings and the kinetic sand, throw them into a bowl and mix it together like dough. Chocolate is the best ice cream flavor. Call me a basic biatch but there it is.
@MarbsMusicАй бұрын
It definitely sounds better after the mods and as the Morandi are long pole I'm assuming they took care of the interference with the Cherry profile caps as well. I think the balls would work with silicon, just not with the sand. Much like the Azoth Extreme, it's just too expensive for what you get. The Evo80 went on sale a couple of days ago for about half the price (not including shipping). It looks to be quite similar to the Neo80 but prebuilt with RGB. The Neo80 to me, with it's low front height, is one of the easiest keyboards to type on and use ever. Why would anyone spend twice as much for this when you can get a full AL build with nice switches (if you want linear), matching keycaps, a ball-latch system for modding and a case from a quite reputable company (Qwertykeys/Owl Lab/Neo)?

These gamer companies aren't paying attention, or they hope that their "fans" won't seem to notice that you can get much better keyboards (and usually mice, headphones, etc) for a fraction of what they want for theirs, and at higher quality....if this was 3 years ago...nah, it would still be overpriced but just not by as much...but in the era of really good $100 (or less) boards, this is just absurd.

Oh man I super thought you were going to say that the issue was that the metal ball bearings got into something and shorted something out and actually ruined the keyboard lol. Be careful when putting loose metal into electronics 😜 I really like my Naga mouse by razer and used it up until I got a sit stand converter for my desk and wireless became a must. Keep pointing them in the right direction and maybe they’ll get there 😊

Main reason im still using a brand keyboard instead of a custom one is that i like my numpad and when i looked at options in the past there were not many offering full size parts i liked. As for if i wanted a 75% for example there would be so many options to pick from so i would not buy a brand keyboard. So yeah, im using a "Corsair K70 Max" and tbh i really like it. But than again i never had a proper custom keyboard to compare it to only other brand keyboards.
@ShoganGeorgeАй бұрын
The keycaps made a big improvement to the look of it, but I still wouldn't get it. I'm definitely getting the Arbiter Studio Kitsune Pro 75 though. That's the one board I want now, then probably a Rainy 75.

is a wooting worth it when you have a membrane?
@mentarium9741Ай бұрын
all depends on budget and what you're looking for in a keyboard. if you don't need the he switches then there isn't any reason not to go for a cheaper keyboard that still sounds and feels good. but if you are looking for a wooting and it fits your budget, why not give it a shot.
