What Was The First Ever Sonic The Hedgehog Plush?

The Sonic The Hedgehog series has had many plushes made in its likeness over the years. We've seen countless companies produce their own interpretations of Sonic in plush form. However, out of all of those varying Sonic plushes, which one came first? What was the first ever Sonic The Hedgehog plush? In this video, I'll try to answer that seemingly impossible to answer question.

My first sonic plush was the sonic underground plush. I would play with it a lot and have sonic team up with mario, spiderman, batman, superman, and other toys of mine. They would face against bowser, venom, scar, wario, and even mechagodzilla. As time went on I collected other plushes/toys that I would play with that would be part of the story that I made up when playing with them. Toon Link, meta knight, donkey kong, yoshi, knuckles, luigi, pikachu, tails, shadow, ironman, captain america, the flash, red and chuck from angry birds, ect. I even had my own characters that I made up like a guy in a robotic mech suit that would be the main villain creating evil plans and robots to take down sonic and the gang. But now that im older and in high school I don't play with my toys anymore, but I still keep them around for the memories. I still collect figures from time to time, like I got a new spiderman and the flash figure, Loki from thor ragnarock, goku, master chief, the predator, ect. I do have new plushes like diddy kong and Raichu. I think that if I ever have kids I'll give them my old toys so that they can take sonic, mario, spiderman, godzilla, and the others on another adventure. I like your video because it made me think about my first sonic plush, which made me go down memory lane. Back to the good old days when all I needed was sonic and my imagination to go on an adventure. Sonic to me was what woody was to andy, nuff said.

Did a quick human translation of the Japanese he posted. "That is the first plush for testing (Test Plush. Japanese sentence order is a little strange sometimes. Literal translations am I right?). Except the whole video is wrong lol. Its not the first plush he should just delete this big fat lie. He was getting close towards the beginning. This plush used for testing is the basis used for the Tomy UK sonic plush dated 1991/1992. This dude is a complete fool making a video like this and not even making sure his facts are correct. You can own a decent similar looking plush by searching UK ebay. Talking about sonics finalized design is good points but not when his mouth is to the side and shine spot on his eyes like the final release sonic. Smh what a moron.

At 5:30 , the Japanese text is: 「それは最初ののテストのためねいぐるみです。１点物。彼はたっている。１９９０年物」 To translate a bit more literally (instead of naturally): "That's the (very) first (for the sake of) test plushie. one-of-a-kind item. He's standing. Circa 1990" The word 最初 is like "the very beggining" or "most first" The word １点物 basically confirms this is a "1 of 1" item The word 1990年物 means like "circa 1990" , as in something made in that year, so it was made in 1990 !

I still have a Sonic plush that my, at the time, best friend gave me for my birthday all the way back in kindergarten in I think '98. He came with hard plastic eyes and a nose of the same material. He ended up losing an arm during a sleepover with a horrible kid who demanded that I let him have my beloved plushie. My grandma sewed him a new one, so now he has an arm that's made of a different material, is a different color and wears a black glove (I insisted on it because it would look cool.) My friend ended up moving away early into 1st grade and we failed to keep in touch. I understand now that I had a huge crush on her, which made her moving away hurt extra for me. Anyways, that's how a Sonic plushie from over 20 years ago became a constant reminder of the only thing in my life that I regret.

I’m not sure if you’re too interested in it, but have you ever thought about covering the Sanei Pikmin plus set? I collected them as a kid, and when I saw the World of Nintendo Pikmin plush, I was happy to see more Pikmin merch, but a little disappointed that they didn’t have different versions of the Pikmin with leaves, buds or flowers on their head.
