Ironically John was probably one of the only players that improved throughout the season. He was doing okay under Eustace (stopped enough just made small mistakes), under Rooney less good but he was hampered by the playstyle. He was excellent though in the second half of the season. Kept us in games far longer than we ought to. Shame how it ended, would like to see him at blues next season. But I'm thinking we go out and get a younger keeper for the future, and in that case if he wants regular games he should go elsewhere. We have no goalies on the books atm though :(

Non blues fans would say Rooney wasn’t given enough time yet if you are a blues fan who witnessed his tenure you would have seen a man either standing up or sitting down with his hands in his pockets not looking bothered. Never ever did he look that he wanted to be there and fight for his job. Fifteenth games to many, good luck Plymouth

As a Birmingham supporter, I’m aware Rooney inherited a squad of average players with no back bone or fight. I’m not sure he’ll ever make a good manager, but even Pep would struggle with that team of melts. A complete contrast to the team that won the league cup which was full of battlers and leaders.
@davidb51737 ай бұрын
Bullshit. Eustace, Mowbray and even Rowett to an extent got a recent return out of those players. Top half form to be exact. We went down because of Rooney's 15 games - it was never just the players
@stephen35117 ай бұрын
@@davidb5173 The only way Eustace got anything out of these was to be their mate. Mowbray and Rowett also struggled to get much out of them. I guarantee if Tony hadn’t fell ill, he’d have shipped most of them out over a few transfer windows. Apart from a few of them - last season were the worst bunch of players for attitude and effort I’ve seen in over 30 years supporting Blues
@FutureIsBlue-tq1xy6 ай бұрын
Yes he was clueless and his demeanor with the fans of not acknowledging them at all just increased his unpopularity. It was like replacing a manager with a novice.
@FutureIsBlue-tq1xy6 ай бұрын
Mowbray got more points than Rooney in 4 games. Rowett had to get results immediately and while Rotherham and Huddersfield should have gone better look at the clean sheets under Rowett and the difference in performance levels under Mowbray. If Mowbray hadn't got ill we would definitely have stayed up. If Rowett had taken charge instead of Venus I also think we would've been okay.
@stephen35116 ай бұрын
@@FutureIsBlue-tq1xy I agree that we would’ve stayed up had Mowbray remained in charge all season. Also agree that if Rowett had taken charge as soon as Mowbray was on leave we’d have had an extra 2-3 points at least. A season of poor decisions by Cook/Gardner, etc. Nevertheless, the majority of the players were the ones putting in below average effort levels for most of the season (post Eustace).

i always wondered whether the best players don't make good managers because they expect players to be able to do the things they could do, and john ruddy's story is kind of evidence of this. in theory messi, how he reads the game and understands what's going on, could be an incredible manager, but what if he expects the majority of players to be able to do what he does lmao
