I am in awe of you. You are a wife, mom of five, business owner and blogger/vlogger but you aren't a planner and yet you seem so organized. Amazing. May I just say that I really like your channel. It's informative, entertaining and professional with out being too over done. Don't know if I am conveying this properly but some KZbinr's are so over the top that it's like they are a television show with a script. You come off as being everyone's neighbor. Don't ever get rid of the sound of your children in the background, it makes your vlogs relatable.

Shari B It does my heart good to hear young women going back to the ways of the grandparents in terms of frugality and simplicity. I love to look at Pinterest too but keeping up with all of that is overwhelming. Looking at Pinterest is all I do and very occasionally I add a recipe to my box. Learning to cook, bake proper and simple is such an amazing skill that pays off in so many ways! Loved this video. I am older and even I learned a few things here! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Totally disagree. Pinterest is what you make of it. I am in my mid thirties and that is where I have actually found the older generations time honored recipes. What is lost on youth, can be found in Pinterest. It's only complicated if you are looking for it to be.

In Brazil most of our meals are have the same building block, you just add to it depending on whats available to you so they tend to be pretty simple and easy to make. Just rice and beans and then the meat and vegetables you have. The beans are usually cooked once a week, too. It'seasy because you always know what you're making and there's no fuss. I never saw anything that was simple like that in any foreign youtube channel before so I find your video really nice to watch. It's not the same but the simplicity is there and that's so comforting, really.

I do a similar patty with tuna -- I add either cooked rice or black beans to the mixture and a bunch of cilantro, and fry them up like small burgers. Delicious ! Another thing I try is fish tacos with canned tuna--super simple and fast.Just add pickled onion or your sauerkraut and it's a nice change from lettuce. The brine adds a little kick to them.

Lisa, You make cooking look so easy! I can clean a house like crazy but cooking has always intimidated me. Any suggestions?
@georgevillalpando70576 жыл бұрын
I'm glad your kids eat whatever healthy meals you fix. My kids always did too. But my grandson, who has been mainly raised by his mom (parents not together) is very picky eater. He is nine now and his father now has primary custody, which is my son who eats almost anything. LOL :) He and his wife are trying to encourage him to eat veggies but it's sometimes a struggle to say the least. He has leukemia and needs to be eating more healthy foods for sure. We see some improvement and we keep encouraging him to try new foods. He used to eat more fruits and veggies when he was younger when we had him at our house on weekends and other times, but I recent years he mainly just wants meats, fish, chicken, fries, corn, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta in the can, chips, crackers and sandwiches. He loves Chinese food but only the rice and meats. He will eat pasta with tomato sauce. I try to sneak with veggies in the sauce sometimes. He is very stubborn also. He does like yogurt with fruit mixed in it and I have finally gotten him to drink fruit smoothies. He does likes strawberries and jam. Do you have any suggestions on how to get a picky, stubborn kid to eat more veggies and fruits? I never really had that problem with my kids so I'm not sure what else to try except to encourage him to try things and sneak the veggies into foods when I think about it. I noticed you put the leftover sweet potato in the meat loaf. Good idea - never thought about doing that. Thanks, Concerned Grandmother in Asheville, NC - Margaret. P.S. I love your cooking style and your simple living videos. I was raised on a farm and my family did a lot of things from scratch. My dad always had a vegetable garden, we raised hogs and had chickens. I helped my mother can and freeze the veggies and still do. :) My grandmothers did the same. One of my grandmothers made liver mush from hogs liver and other parts of the hog. I know it's sounds gross but it's great fried up in a cast iron pan for breakfast, lunch or supper. My mother and I have always used the cast iron pans for cooking and baking. Homemade biscuits are the best baked in cast iron. Just crowd them in the pan - it's okay. We had lots of pickles, pickled green tomatoes, pickled corn, etc. If it could be pickled we ate it. LOL :) Do you ever make canned chow-chow with cabbage? That is my favorite thing. I am not much into sauerkraut but I'll eat it on occasion as I keep it in the fridge, mainly for my husband. Sorry - didn't mean to ramble on so much.

Also, here's a quick go to recipe that my family loves: Potato, egg and onion. Basically a bag or red potatoes, baked and then cut thin thrown in a pan with some onion and a dozen eggs. Mix with a spatula while cooking to get the eggs to sort of act like glue. I season with salt and pepper and maybe some grated cheese...supe easy.
