It's taken work to get to the point where we get to eat really diversely through the whole period of time, and I do miss the fresh veg towards the end of the month, we get plenty of frozen veg that have more than enough nutrients, but its just not the same! Which is why I really want to get my gardens working and succession planting hehe

Wow! You cook such diverse meals. Love it all. How did you learn to cook the asian meals? I use youtube to learn lol. I also start my day with coffee or I am worthless the rest of the day. When I get to the states for the holidays, I must buy that knife contraption. I make a lot of pizzas, and I think that would be just dandy to cut them. This was one of my fave videos for the month. ❤️

I too use KZbin and the internet a lot! I find if I look around enough I can find a really diverse group of instructions and pick and choose what I want to use and then alter it to suit our family! With only going shopping every 6 weeks, do you have a rigid menu plan, or is it just wing it. Loved seeing what you had for meals
@OurSmallFootprint2 жыл бұрын
I just wing it, I try to make sure that as I'm prepping something it is used for the next couple of meals in a diff way, or frozen for use later kinda thing. I tend to plan only a day ahead lol, long enough to have something out of the freezer, or sourdough made etc! I have a fairly good idea of how much food we require for the period of time, as in frozen vegetables and that kind of thing, but we do run low sometimes if I use something more than normal, but we always have some items on the shelves to top things up, soups full of veg and that kinda thing that can be eaten as is, or put with pasta or turned into pies etc!

Would love to know what your off grid set up is. Solar? Generator?
@OurSmallFootprint2 жыл бұрын
We have two arrays, a main system with Victron gear, 3kva inverter (multiplus) and additional charge controller. 12 strings of 3 panels on the roof using combiner boxes and a bank of 12x2v 1080ah gel batteries. The secondary array is smaller, 8 strings of 2 panels into a Chinese branded inverter and charge controller with half the size second hand battery bank, it doesn’t hold charge real well but it works for my seedling mats, water transfer and grey water pump and the thermomix/dehydrator during daylight hours :). We have an 8kva generator that plugs into the main system as well to top things off. As the kids have gotten older and are starting to stay up later the electronics of an evening mean we have to top off the solar far more often than we’d like!
@MrArron49492 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for getting back to me. Will look into it as we only moved and are using a generator at the moment.
@OurSmallFootprint2 жыл бұрын
@@MrArron4949 the first thing we bought was a pre wired board, then we only had to connect the panels, we got it via Energy Connections I think their name was, that gave us a lot of knowledge and ability to understand how it all worked before hooking up secondary systems etc! Panels are super cheap second hand, so can always get those easy, mounting them can be challenging though depending on tree lines etc!

It's hard to believe in this day and age people still think cooking in tallow and eating predominately meat is bad for you . Far from it and better than a bunch of grains and seed oils . Maybe people need to do a bit more research
@OurSmallFootprint3 ай бұрын
I think the problem is that there’s so much contradiction out there for both sides and they all present research that proves their views etc and it’s very hard to understand for a lot of people, so they pick a side and stick with it

@@OurSmallFootprint you don't need evidence to see people's health has got worse . We should be eating like it's 1950 . They didn't use seed oils and weren't scared to eat lots of meat . They were healthier than we are today
