Same thing happened on a smaller scale right after hurricane Laura in 2020. Same chemicals are involved. The report is available online from the CSB. “trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA)… When a TCCA-based formulation instead comes in contact with or is wetted/moistened by a small amount of water and does not dissolve, it can experience a chemical reaction, generating heat and causing the decomposition of the chemical, which in turn produces toxic chlorine gas and can produce explosive nitrogen trichloride.” Chlorine gas produces hydrochloric acid in the presence of water. Be safe Georgia.

They may have had hundreds of different chemicals on site. And the sprinkler system was probably activated automatically due to the fire. Nobody said the firefighters went in with water hoses.
@Lazy_Fish_KeeperАй бұрын
@@Robert08010 there was a longer coverage where yes, they did acknowledge the difficulties of fighting a fire due to a water reaction with "unknown chemicals on sight"....with water. That they had gotten the fire out, and as they were removing "containers of the source material" the fire re-ignited. Which is something that happens with lithium ion batteries (electric cars) and the vehicle has to be allowed to burn because there's no safe way to put out the fire without making it burn hotter (meaning this probably isn't a lithium fire). Magnesium also ignites upon contact with water.... several other minerals are also highly unstable in the presence of H2O
