Fouad has a masters in Electric Engineering with Nanotechnology from the University of Southampton. He worked as a research assistant at Imperial College London before joining Entrepreneur First. He wrote his thesis on paper-based medical diagnostics using image processing. He was born in Iraq, grew up in Norway, has lived in the UK for more than 10 years and worked in the USA. There’s no “perceived” difficulty in developing medtech; the difficulty is very real. 1) the most highly regulated industry 2) very expensive to develop 3) longest time to exit 4) low exit multiples 5) animals die in the process 6) people die in the process 7) very few exit pathways (I’ll pause here)

I can’t wrap my head around the fact this dude started a biotech company with no knowledge of medicine, biomolecular science or even engineering… correct me if I’m wrong but I looked up this guy’s Linked in and it just says « entrepreneur ». I’m just curious as to how one can go from having zero knowledge about a certain topic, to strating a whole business revolving around that same topic. Btw this is no hate to him, I just seriously want to know how he did it.

Well, I do have a masters degree in Electronic Engineering and Nanotechnology. But you’re right, we did get help from a lot of doctors and engineers!

@@fouadal-noor3804 I’m actually planning on going into medicine this year and I’ve developed an interest in biotech startups. I’ve got a lot of friends in engineering and I was wondering if you have any idea / advice on how to start a biotech startup; especially as a student. When I look this up on the internet, I can see in numerous cases that it’s been done before but I just can’t find out how exactly people get started with it. So yeah, any advice or good books / recourses you know where I might find an explanation to how all of this works?
