@EatBailaTravel2 жыл бұрын
It's seriously a super cool city and the chisme-quality history makes it even more fun lol. We heard and read different versions of that forbidden love story legend and it was a little challenging to piece it together. Another version says that it was Carlota, the european empress who briefly "ruled" Mexico alongside Maximiliano (appointed by the French), had fallen in love with a Mexican and had the aqueduct built for him... but it sounds like the theme is the same! forbidden love!

Perhaps you covered it elsewhere, but El Cerro de Las Campanas is also worth visiting while in QRO. There you will see where Benito Juárez ended the lives of Maximiliano and Miguel Miramón and Tomás Mejía, two Mexican traitors. A few years back I visited Maximiliano's Miramar castle, near Trieste, Italy, where his Mexican pendejada featured prominantly. The display recounted how los mexicanos bárbaros had "assassinated" el pobre emperador. Justice in the eye of the beholder? Chale, carnales: ¡Qué viva México!

In Chicago it rains throughout the year, but in lots of parts in Mexico, including Queretaro, there's usually a rainy season and a dry season and I really like it (except for when there are water scarcities.. but weather-wise it's been pretty fun experiencing these new (to us) climates 🙂 and kudos to you for knowing who she was prior to this video! great video, as always. This idea might have no appeal to you but, were i in your shoes (having Mexican citizenship), i’d take a break fairly soon from your “search for home” in Mexico to go across the pond to Spain for a few years. Per my understanding, as Mexican citizens, you can qualify for Spanish citizenship much more quickly - potentially just 2 years. However, as this law could easily be changed, i would act soonish before changes might happen. [i was eyeing Belgium - i foolishly studied German in school rather than Spanish which has much higher utility - German is one of the 3 languages of Belgium. But, was waiting due to family obligations - In the meantime, Belgium changed their naturalization law so one must have more money (which i don't). Act while you can!] Explore Spain, make videos there (& in Portugal, France, Italy, etc.) for a few years. Get that citizenship to give yourselves more options in the future. Or don’t. This is just something to think about.
@EatBailaTravel2 жыл бұрын
hi amigo, actually, you're not too far off on this idea! we've thought about a move to Spain before. The thought of triple citizenship (and thus options!) has definitely crossed our minds. I (Jenny) studied abroad in Spain for a semester in college and really enjoyed it. When Kevin and I first talked about moving out of the US, Spain was a top option. We were also considering Colombia and Brazil. But then the pandemic hit and Mexico just made more sense. Mexico feels more like home than the US at this point (and in the longterm, I think it will be), but part of us still wants to explore life in other places, too. A few days ago, we bought one-way flights to another country and plan to be there a few months... sorry to leave you on a hook here but we are holding off from announcing where just yet! 😅 but thanks so much for mentioning this because it feels like a sign from the universe to continue the adventure!
@gringoviejo19352 жыл бұрын
@@EatBailaTravel Thanks for the reply! With the goal of also getting Spanish citizenship, it’s MUCH better that you went to Mexico 1st to get that “birthright” citizenship which can put you on a fast track for Spain (&EU) citizenship - Spain would take a decade for those of us with just a US passport. Now that you’ve got that Mexican citizenship, it’s a great time to explore other options, too, for a while. Mexico will still be there. And, i hear you about feeling more “home” outside USA! understood that you can't let the cat out of the bag too soon about your impending sojourn. no doubt it will be a great experience!

I am beginning to see the pattern with "Vlogers"...you are all following the unwritten rule to support each other with 100% positive comments, all of you hoping you can actually make living with these videos (LOL) .....same old tired pattern..wayyyyy over hyped speech and exagerated discussion with non-stop hand movement..video starts with camera pointed at the ground or sky...hand over the camera lens to go to next view...more about you and less about the place...not enough time to actually see each scene...jerky camera movement..poor audio.
