Great stocking stuffers! Our sons are 36 and 38, and we still fill stockings for them. It’s so much fun for me and my husband. And they seem to get more excited over their stockings than any big gift we can give them. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

My two adult children are in their thirties but not married so I have favorite things like cheese n a biscuit crackers and squeeze cheese, dried apricots, cashews, reeses peanut for one and york mint patties for the other. so they still get those little side trinkets too. And we do open everything together by video even when we are in different states. And we have odd ornaments from whatever was important every year on the tree instead of just bulbs and bows, It is just how we like to celebrate. And as a group we try to bake the favorite cookie of each person. Merry Chistmas to your whole family. You have blessed my life this year as I am retired and disabled so a lot of hours in a day. I get outside in the garden, or doing destruction(which I love and cleaning up real cluttery outdoor stuff by watchiing you. You did it all. I love the music that they create. I am not a musician but Silas seems to have a real gift for the guitar. Love to you all

I remember years ago going through my dad's underwear drawer looking for the largest stockings I could find (because I figured Santa could place more things in it) Ha! I would find something like an orange, candy cane (sometimes even the huge stick one that would last a month!), a hollow chocolate Santa and a fruit flavored chapstick. Didn't get any better than that! My girls remember getting the box of life savers in theirs which they loved. Yours are going love theirs which include the gift of adventure/experience. Fun! There's gonna be people that won't get why you gave lighters & a knife as gifts. Country kids that actually work on the land are a total different breed of children. They grow up knowing how to take care of themselves & aren't lazy. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Yep it is so true. Even our young kids have been taught how to properly use a lighter, knife, etc. I find that when you teach kids how to use these tools and allow them to participate in adult tasks they have a different level of respect and maturity regarding them Merry Christmas to you too!

Things have changed so much. Or maybe we were innocent as a society. Born in 1960, tv was limited to 30 mins am and 30 mins pm (afternoon). We were outside from daylight to night time on none school days. Even at night, we played hide and seek. Rode bikes from age 5/6 in the immediate neighborhood to as 12 and up we would ride up to 15 miles into the country. We lived in a cookie cutter suburb neighborhood. We played in surrounding creeks and woods. If we did anything out of line, other parents would call or stop by to chat with parents to let them know we had been going on. That was rarely needed in our neighborhood. I will admit there were parents even in my time the kept their children inside or by their side at all times but it was unusual. Now people are afraid to let their kids play outside. It’s dangerous. Even public parks have used birth control on the ground that children mistake for balloons 🎈 or used drug paraphernalia. Parents don’t stop teens from taking over parks for young children to play and are foul mouthed. They let tv, video games and social media occupy their children. 🤷‍♀️

I always go overboard when I say we’re not going to do much or my husband and I decide we’re not. Then I’m stuck. Lol 😂 It’s easy to do because you love to treat those precious blessings. You’re all going to have the most wonderful Christmas of All. The main thing is celebrating the Birth of Christ and fellowship with your whole family. I have 2 son's myself who are now father's but I have to say the last thing I would have bought teenage boys would be Zippo lighters ?

Fire is a very practical and sustaining part of our life. Our home and our cabin in the woods are both heated by wood. We have outdoor areas as well that are for burning. They also do handicrafts that often need the ends of cords sealed by flame. In addition, a lighter is one of the emergency safety items that is recommended for anyone who does distance hiking. We know a local family who’s father took his sons hiking, got lost in the woods, and all three froze to death. It was a terrible tragedy. A lighter could have saved their life. Kids who grow up being taught the proper handling and necessity of “adult” items have a completely different perspective than an average teen.

I was initially pretty shocked, but then realised they know their kids better than anyone else and they have a farm life. My son burnt his bedroom down when he was nearly 13 and it was only luck that the whole house didn’t go up. He saw kids lighting sprayed deodorant at school in the change lockers. He may have been successful if he’d done it outside and not in his bedroom on a large piece of wood used for puzzles and as he had a cotton throw on the end of his bed it caught that and whoosh! It was a rare time that he was briefly home alone. He’s now 37 and hasn’t burnt anything else since so he did learn from it and the fire brigade use the incident as an example when educating in schools.
