You don't need to drink alcohol to be social. Also, if you're drinking when social that could be every night for some people. I'm Italian and we had wine on the table occasionally when growing up but as an adult I liked it too much. I could see it was becoming a habit so I quit. My mom was an alcoholic from wine but quit. My grandmother drink too much wine in the evening. I've spent time in Italy and they share a bottle among many people at dinner. It's not a lot but in America we over do things. This socializing idea of drinking being fine is an excuse to drink. It's not necessary to have alcohol to be social.

27:32 When he said he " views alcohol almost like a Trojan horse for a social setting", speaking about how the Mediterranean is often equated with consuming wine in a social gathering , I was hoping he'd say the trojan horse is thinking you always have to have wine for such a gathering. It's ubiquitous, almost like you can't be social without it. And sadly, that is true for some people. They've become dependent on wine to feel relaxed, especially in a social setting.

The answer isn't smoothies. It's raw milk. If you're in it for nutrition, I fail to see how a smoothie of any type is more effective than a glass of raw milk. Your top end grass fed whey has either sunflower lecithin, a source of omega-6 fats, and/or Stevia which has been shown to be best avoided. That's before getting around to what else to put in it. Meanwhile, raw milk has 100% of what mammals need to survive in 100% bioavailable forms.

Sure do have to be careful with supplements too. I live in an area that is often overcast in the fall and winter. We do have our sunny days too but can be under dull skies for long periods . So I up my d3 in the winter. I started taking a Kirkland brand d3 , after about a week I experienced sore knees. My Natural path read the label and asked if I am sensitive to wool.. I am. She pointed out that the tablets are made from lanolin. Stoped them went to another brand with k2 . Same results. Stopped them and successfully took a tablet d3 no k2. All good for months. Went to my health food store to restock, Was informed the company no longer sells it in solid tablet form… apparently consumers want gel caps. Took it home .. yup after a few days inflammation set in. Hmm ..well a little late, but I read the bottle label and there it was Flax seed oil! I eat meat based diet and seed oil has always inflamed my joints. Lesson here for me ..read labels!! And remember supplement manufacturers are also in it for the money and will put in what the trend / consumer will pay for. On the hunt for solid pill form now .Simple d3 nothing added. I take cod liver oil too. K2 is plant based, I eat ghee that delivers k4 the human based k vitamin, the one that is in the umbilical cord at birth. Watch for the sneaky changes that occur with our tried and true products we learn to trust. Good health to all.

I'm no fan of highly process food and certainly not of foods high in sugars (starches and grains, included) but I am also cautious about saturated fats. Around 35 minutes, in when the doctor says that because we have always eaten meat and atherosclerosis is much more prevalent these days she is telling the truth. But a big reason for this is because people died (and usually much earlier than they do today, thank goodness, because of many other diseases (as a result of the invention of penicillin, vaccinations etc), wars, lack of safety in workplaces, etc. And so people mostly died before long term diseases had a chance to become such a big killer. So for that reason we can't rule out the dangers of eating too much meat. I would have thought this was an obvious point that she should have mentioned.
