i don’t get why the sanguinary guard would disrespect the death mask of their father and don’t wear it. In Darkness of Blood Dante scolds a primaris Captain for entering his chamber before he could put on his mask.

The Sanguinary guard miniatures just look like fancy Blood Angels sergeants. The wings and their specialist jump pack, which they've also lost, marked them out on the tabletop as something special, aside from the paint scheme. With the loss of Gabriel Seth as well as all of the Blood Angels specific dreadnoughts the Blood Angels character in their models has been removed, they're just the red version of Ultramarines. Gabriel Seth was right all along.
@jasonscottsego73114 ай бұрын
Do the Ultramarines get the Red Thirst and Black Rage? That's new. Huge lore implications! Seth wasn't speaking about appearances. To Seth, the struggle against the Flaw was the defining feature of the Sanguinary Brotherhood and they thought Primaris would 'cure' the Flaw. So no, Seth wasn't right
@Deadjim174 ай бұрын
@@jasonscottsego7311 it is a literal quote from Seth to Dante about the suggestion of Primaris potentially curing the BA’s flaw. While that is not the case Primaris definitely has impacted the character of the miniatures themselves though
@Deadjim174 ай бұрын
@@jasonscottsego7311 ‘You are too noble to understand.’ Seth rounded on Dante. ‘That is not salvation, that is replacement. These new warriors will bear the colours of Flesh Tearers, but without Sanguinius’ fury they will be Flesh Tearers in name only. All my time as Chapter Master I have waged war on our rage, to wrestle it into submission and use its strength to slay our foes. We are fury! From the time of Amit, the savage lord, to this day, we have carried the white heat of Sanguinius’ anger in us. That was our gift and our burden. The flaw is what makes us what we are.’ ‘We are nothing without the struggle against it. He would make us all Ultramarines in red armour.' The theming of the Blood angels has been neutered and removed from these new Primaris marines. When you compare the DC and SG that came before to what we are newly getting, they are lesser, fewer bits fewer options and less embellishment and detail.
@jasonscottsego73114 ай бұрын
@Deadjim17 crazy that you'd post quotes that prove what I said. Yeah I don't like the SG models and I think it's lazy from GW with how they've handled the DC, but that isn't Seth being right

Roast beef monster munch was taken off the shelves for quite a few years,I was so happy when they came back . Unfortunately I suffer from fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel in both my hands so I'm always uncomfortable when building and painting,I sometimes causes my hands to lock up completely I also have tremors sometimes which prevents from doing any modelling at all . Being aware of posture and how much strain your putting on your body while doing things is really important. Unfortunately my disabilities prevent me from carrying on with my profession (mechanics/light vehicle technician) , I'm hoping to get good enough to do commission designs,building and painting models and miniatures

I wonder how much higher people run their desks for painting - I know personally I prefer having the desk higher than I would have it for a computer, so I can rest my elbows on the table whilst keeping a straighter back. Really want to move to a standing desk at some stage

Great paintjobs overall minis, but I have to admit that Astorath's paint job left me with very mixed feelings. The armour and wings are great, but the face just didn't grab me. I'm not sure whether the face has so little contrast or whether it's painted too monochrome for me. It looked like a mask when I first saw it. I'm very curious to see what the model looks like in real life.

When he said you wouldn’t shower every day, I was like, what? Keep in mind I’m of Scottish descent, so my skin gets angry at things that it shouldn’t but I absolutely shower every day. It’s also a bit of a factor that I live in the American South where today it’s supposed to get 34°C with about 70% humidity.

To properly repose Astorath's arms and axe: I intend to move the right hand down to the other hand (like the older one) as at the moment it is actually PREVENTING his full swing. That is NOT how you swing an axe and he is also dislocating his own arm to do it. As our arm gets through the top arc the hand is forced to turn outwards so his pose is impossible as well. Loving your paint jobs, they look fantastic
@gregoryjordan17404 ай бұрын
This is how you swing an axe and you certainly can hold your arms over your head with ought dislocating them. The top hand slides down as you drop your axe. He's in a sort of top of the swing pose.
@trivialpershoot4 ай бұрын
@@gregoryjordan1740 never said you couldn't put arms above your head but the hand would turn out, not in! And if he is mid swing, then he has already lost power because he is holding it wrong. The hand would need to be at the base at the start of the swing for max power. I suggest not sharing your thoughts if you don’t know what you are talking about.
@gregoryjordan17404 ай бұрын
@trivialpershoot Your just wrong. As you swing an axe your hands more or less stay in the same plane as the head of the axe as you see on the miniature. They don't rotate around the shaft as you are swining as this would lose control this way. A real axe handle is actually oblong shape to better communicate the direction of the head relative to your hand. When you start the swing you should have your off hand only at the base of the axe gripping the palm swell firmly (this indicates Astorath is right handed btw) and you main hand mid shaft for the upswing and then you drop your main hand down to the butt end on the down swing for an overhead chop. The pose would indicate he is just beginning the downswing. You would never really start a swing by bringing an axe over your head with your hands together as it would have too much leverage and momentum against you to reverse the direction mid air. Keep in mind you do this all in one fluid motion. I would suggest trying to chop some fire wood or touching grass once in a while. It's fun!
@trivialpershoot4 ай бұрын
@@gregoryjordan1740 keeping your arm straight rotate your arm past straight up. Can you keep your hand turned in towards the axe handle. See you can’t . Now stfu because you used a lot of words to show the simple truth. You have no clue how to use an axe and you didn’t even bother checking how your own arm moves.
@trivialpershoot4 ай бұрын
@@gregoryjordan1740 ffs you are ignorant for the sakes of it. He is not in the middle of the upswing. It is supposed to be early in the downswing when hand would be at the bottom. But irrelevant of up or down swing: do a practical experiment. Put your arm straight up with the hand facing in. Now move your upper arm further back, can you keep your hand facing in as if gripping the haft? No you can't. Simple biology. Stop arguing. The models creators wanted to make it different to the original, so ignoring biology and how to use an axe; moved his right arm, and said "looks fine". Now you are being rude and arguing the nonsense to justify it. Get off fan boy!

I like the Astorath model and the face looks way better painted here than the way GW did it. But I hate his lore. How can he be in the same boxed set as Lemartes? Surely Lemartes would be first in line for execution. And how can there be a tower of Amareo with Astorath around?
