I secretly moved in with my partner, but we didn’t have the hard questions. I wish we would have, it would have saved us a lot of small small unnecessary fights. Then a baby came along the way, and later a wedding came. I wouldn’t do it exactly the same way but I still love our story. I love how mature this conversation was, what would I change? I would move in with him when I was a little bit older, with the same man, but a more mature me.Because moving in requires a whole other level of maturity.
@wacukamwangi3 жыл бұрын
Agree with Lydia. Deep down you will know if you are okay moving in. I moved in with my now husband when l was 23, a year later did our traditional wedding, he later proposed the same year and now 3 babies later. I never regret my decision to dates. You will know when it's a-okau

I just want to say that I admire how mature both of you are, you said your piece without projecting and Lydia said hers without defending her decision. I love friends that can have uncomfortable conversations with so much respect and grace for each other.

First of all, having just watched Lucifer, Lydia is giving Mazikeen vibes, the vicious type of love... Also, saying that we won't do certain stuff like moving in because "what if we don't work out" is almost cowardly. Because there's very few things that we do in life with absolute surety... Lastly, address me in soft tones...I've been given a shout out🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Such a deep conversation here... I would say, maturity is what matters coz weve seen couples separate even after a huge wedding while others stay together despite not following the formalities. Each persons script is different.
@berylabungu31783 жыл бұрын
Usually, the both of you kinda have similar opinions. I particularly love this episode because of the differing opinions coming in sync💕. And I love how Lydia is so free spirited, enjoying now, and determining the script of how she wants her story.

I honestly feel like we've turned Dating-Marriage inside out coz I feel like in dating is when we should look for other ways but sex to love each other and to connect while dating so we can understand if really we wanna be with this person for the long haul. Also, I feel like the reason why would move in with their partner before marriage is fear of commitment honestly and it stops you from growing all the way coz you have reservations what if we build together in this way only for them to want to marry the other person?
@justherke3 жыл бұрын
I think the buck stops at who you are moving in with, what place you are at in your communication and what you want out of the relationship space. Because while we may say marriages dont break as often...the truth is that the only place they are not broken is legally. People are single parents and single in marriages all the damn time. Unhappiness is rife in this spaces. In fact marriages may bring the reality of the bias of expectation of financial and domestic roles even harder and faster, because of the illusion of permanence. The one up that marriage has is the fact that matters of inheritance and succession are much smoother in the institution. (which you can cover with legal contracts).. but the net difference seems negligible especially emotionally . As long as you think about it and have systems to have your ass covered and most importantly don't get children, whether you move in or not is negligible in effect. It may probably be advantageous to figure out if your partner is the right fit.

Omg. I agree with everything girl.

Obviously this topic is going to sit differently in different cultures. In my culture (Mozambique), it is rare for people to get married before living together first. There is even a law that says that if two people live together for 2 years straight, they are automatically legally married. For me personally I feel like moving in before marriage is way better, it’s like a preparation stage before marriage and kids, I love the idea that we can be boyfriend and girlfriend, creating deep bonds before we get into the kids part. Conclusion: I’m with Lydia on this one

I love this topic it's no informative, I'm in the move in what's up group, personally I did it intentionally, because I was once married to baby daddy, things didn't work, so I promised myself next time I'm in a serious relationship I'd rather live with a person first to know them well before making it official, if it doesn't work I move on swiftly. My opinion though.
