My continental extreme contacts have lasted 30 thousand miles. They improve the ride and handling so much. Highly recommend worth every penny.

Facts. I cannot express the insane amount of grip and handling. Only thing I meh about is road noise.

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500’s are your best tire. Will last over 30k miles, and sticky enough to take corners at high speeds.

I do mainly city driving during the week and I have mine in Sport Mode but I keep the trans in Drive and the shifting has been fine. 🤔

If you want any sort of exhaust note I'd recommend catted aftermarket downpipe and go straight to stage 2. Best bang for buck performance and car is quite a bit more responsive on stage 2. Then if you have more money I'd recommend intercooler next.

Got a 2019 and I just put over a thousand on it in under two weeks. So far I love it and it's been really good.

One other thing to mitigate wheel spin, keep the wheels straight! I am in a '16 Golf S/E/L (5dr hatch, aka. high riding Egg. Not bothered, because this suspension setup is key in the winter here.) which has the stock 15" alloys. Tiny wheels, but massive torque with the stage 1 APR @home tune, turbo muffler delete and intake. Put a stabilizer on the rear with some hefty links for good measure. Estimate about 247HP, up from 170 stock. And yeah I get some chugging too, especially in 3rd and 5th when it's around 55-60 and kinda humid outside. Had it for 5 years and I love it even though I have had pretty bad luck with some repairs that I suspect the previous owner brought on. *cough* 6k transmission replacement just out of 80k warranty *cough* Anyway, having a bit of prescience about the shifting of weight and when to feather the gas is key in a FF car, since they are so prone to spin @ high power, what with steering and drive on the same wheels. The stock tiptronic/sequential transmission shifts the way it does because I am pretty sure VW designed it to be a cold weather 'safe' shift pattern. When it is cold, shifting up through all the gears means the crankcase as a whole warms up more evenly. Also, keeping in low RPM means you will have more grip in inclement weather. If the transmission really bothers you, you can always get a TCU tune. Some are really simple and just prevent the shift mode from shifting down or D mode from shifting up too soon, others get more technical (and expensive) with plate pressures and final drive tweaks. GL with the car and the channel, cheers! -J

You can get an early MK7 GTI for under $10k used and honestly I can't think of a better driving car for the money. I mean you can get an F30 3-Series which is also a great car but it doesn't handle as well as the GTI to be honest; and this is coming from someone who has experience with both.

20-25 mpg sounds low for these cars. With a stage 1 tune i average 30+mpg or about 375 miles per tank

Yeah I was totally wrong, I just checked mine and it said 31 mpg. For some reason I thought I saw it at 22 one time
