Jaune and Ruby have always been friends going through the story's good and bad times together. The level of intimacy shown has never exceeded friendship levels or veered into romance. It very well could but it hasn't. Maybe you just need better friends if you don't have those kinds of connections with them. Maybe get closer to the people you call friends?

@@Naiadryade that's still not a good excuse , she was the most skilled out of all the kids earlier in the show . Arguably she was about equal to Yang muscle memery should have taken over at some point and and they changed her whole fighting style with this animation . Just look at her fight with the whight fang lieutenant and her volume 4 character short , a lot of the power she displayed close with her fencing is gone and replace with just her dancing which isn't a bad way animate her , she simple doesn't feel strong anymore , just jumping around and and barrely countering moves .

It just makes me feel better to come up with in-universe plausible explanations for things like this. Weiss is one of my very favorite characters, and at that point she had grown so much and come so far, I'd rather give her the benefit of the doubt in being imperfect... Instead of focusing negative energy on the creators of the show.

Well, I can only assumed that out of our four girls, Weiss was the only one who didn't get to work out much during time skip. I doubt her father would let her doing any training during her time in Atlas, not to mention no Winter around. Therefore, she can only practice her summoning in her room all the time (this part is just my assumption, but this is my impression when watching V4). I think it's months, almost a year? I think such amount of time of inactivity is more than enough to dull her posture, reflexes, and decision-making in a fight, if you noticed that Weiss lost balance even on her own glyph, plus that silly moment of slamming herself into a pillar under pressure. And someone mentioned about Time Dilation glyph, which I think even that still have some lags between its activation and when the glyph start to take effect. Blake vs Paladin missiles? There were few moments between activation and when Roman shot more missiles, and even those missiles had to traveled through some distance before they could reached Blake. Weiss vs White Fang Lieutenant? She only activate the glyph after she knocked her opponent off balance and made some distance. She started to activate the glyph when WFL was still regaining his footing. So, in this case, Weiss is just totally outclassed by Vernal, plus every other odds stacked against her.
