What went wrong in Batman & Robin

Rushed to production. Crossing between campy and serious. Ruining many big characters featured in the comics and recent Batman TAS show. What was changed and what could I do to make the film work more in line with the original comics.

Excellent roast once again! This movie, while there may be certain aspects that were good, it overall got massively overshadowed from the abundance of bad jokes, cliches, ruining characters, too many villains to focus on--which is one of the reasons why Spider-Man 3 was a bomb--, cheap-looking setups, and so many other problems (the less said about the infamous "Bat Credit Card" scene *cough* the better). B&R basically makes Forever look like the first 2 Burton movies. It's no wonder why a new Batman film didn't happen until nearly 1 decade later. DC needs to learn to stop rushing their movies so there can be more for character development, while saving room for others in later entries. I'm guessing maybe next time a WWW review will be on either Catwoman (2004 movie), or Green Lantern (2011 movie). Also, "Is it that hard?" apparently when it comes to DC a lot of the times, it is.

You know what I've wondered for years? If the previous movie is the one that introduced Robin and this one is a follow-up that highlights that they'll always be a team, why is this one called "Batman & Robin" and the previous one "Batman Forever"? It should be the other way around.

You should review The Guardians (2017). It was Russia's attempt to create their own version of Avengers/ Justice League but it was so bad that the planned sequel was cancelled. I would really their to be a reboot of it someday because I like a lot of the concepts and ideas the movie had

Oddly enough, before Batman Forever when into production, Schumacher actually wanted his own Batman movie to be as dark as the Burton films with the main influence being the Long Halloween but Warner Bros declined in order to avoid another controversy similar to the Batman Returns/ McDonald's controversy.

Actually it was Batman: Year One that Joel Schumacher was influenced by since The Long Halloween wasn't written until 1996.

Chris O Donnell's Robin was the only good thing about this movie. The only issue I had was the outfit. He was Robin in name only. He was nothing more than Nightwing with a cape.

A lot of the problems in this movie could had been fixed if they kept Alfred dying storyline and had only Mr Freeze as villain. While It's possible to make Batman movie with mutiple villains, his stories work better when the focus is just on his rivalry with just one specific bad guy. Unlike the Spider man rogues gallery (some are major threats while others are just thiefs with super powers) the thing about the batman rogues is that most of them are all capable of being main villains in a movie, since they all work dark reflection of Batman (Riddler = his ego; Mr Freeze = his desire for vengence and dealing with loss and grief; Two Face = his duality), making interesting when they fight each other, representing Batman confronting his personal dillemas. In the case of Batman & Robin, the movie could had been better if they kept focus on Bruce dealing with Alfred situation and in the end having to accept Alfred's death and move on and embrance his his new role as father figure to Dick Grayson, creating a contrast to Freeze, who is so desperate to save his wife that he is willing to put whole city in danger.

The upshot with this film, because of its failure we got Batman Begins 8 years later, which kicked off Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy with an all star cast of which Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Lucious Fox and Cillian Murphy are in all three films. It’s arguably the best Batman film series to date and one of the greatest trilogies ever made.

As for your idea, it's good but I think you could exclude the whole Batman's love interest (not every Batman movie needs to have a romantic sub plot) and keep Batgirl, She could be Gordon's daugther and having a sub plot about being a Batman and Robin fan who wants to be a crime fighter and make the difference in Gotham, which cause trouble between her and Gordon, who is a overprotective father and doesn't want to put her in danger. This could result becoming close to Dick Grayson, who can relate to Barbara situation since he goes through the same thing with Batman. In the end, she could be one who helps Robin and Batman understand each other better and Dick could convice Bruce to allow Barbara to join them, given her the chance to be a super hero.

I am by no means a comic fanboy, but it passes me off to no ends when people who have ZERO knowledge of the source material insert a MAJOR villain as just a mindless sidekick.....ie Bane It is supposed to make said fanboys geek out, but actually does just the opposite....to think, some executive probably said that this was a summer release, we need MORE Batman villains to top the last movie, and the ignorant writers just went and looked for recent Batman stories (Knightfall) and plucked Bane....smh

rangerreview: You can't have this extreme Whiplash between Serious and Comedy! Me after hearing that line: You can't? Well I hate to differ and all, but your gonna really hate how both "Babe", "Pokémon: The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon" and the Netflix show "Lost Ollie" badly Whiplashes their Seriousness and Comedy elements, they make Batman & Robin look like Cartoon Network in comparison.
