When you are looking for places to fish, zoom in on the depth finder, you don't need a reef, you just need about a 3 ft ledge. These small 3 to 4 ft ledge drops can hold some huge fish. Those are the ones people don't know about and you can keep coming back. Good luck

You should be fishing on rock piles Or wreck And when I saw your fishfinder there was no fish Showing up on the screen A good sign not to Waster time there. You should bring different kinds of bait Like sardines Or ballyhoo Even shrimp. To increase your chances Buy rigged ballyhoo Troll with it And when the boat stops Just leave it out there Something May come along and pick it up And when dropping to the bottom Use a chicken rig And put 2 different kinds of Bates Sometimes they prefer one over the other And when you get to your spot And you don't see any fish On your fishfinder Do circles in that area Widen out Remember fish move around they don't stay in one spot This will increase your chances Good luck

Chum bags work in two different scenarios. First is if you're using a "flatline" bait in deep water. That's usually a live bait with no wait closer to the surface. Second is in shallower water with baits on top or bottom. Bottom fishing in deep water with a chum bag does not make sense because your bait is not close to the chum. Tight lines!

@@OutOnTheReef the only time my wife and I have ever been completely skunked offshore was the morning after a full moon. It took us years to figure it out. If the weather is perfect and that’s the only time you can go, wait till much later in the day and fish till dark or a little into the night. At least that’s my experience. Some one else may tell you different. I would guess that you left the reef about the time the bite was about to turn on. Tight line brother
