It doesn't matter how legend you are. Its never an alternative to not work hard. Such a stupid statement to make. The success and failure is what doesn't matter but saying she doesn't need to work hard is getting satisfied with mediocrity. Consider David Bowie who is already a legend before we were born. But his last album surpassed all our previous expectations. And made him timeless.

As a lifelong Britney fan here’s my two cents: - Femme Fatale was the last album where she was a viable charting solo artist. - Britney Jean was rushed and released to push ticket sales for Vegas. No focus on the music itself. - Glory was to makeup for the backlash they received from fans with BJ. It wasn’t a huge success but it was a step in the right direction to rebuild Britney’s artistry in the public eye. For what’s to come: I think Britney still enjoys putting out music/performing but, since becoming a mother, will always put family first and she doesn’t take it as seriously as before. She’s a legend now and has nothing left to prove. So you either accept that and continue being a fan or you move on to a new girl. That’s my opinion

Also Britneys core fanbase when she was big was around 15-20 years ago and as the record industry knows it's common as teens mature to adults they dont consume as much music due to adult life which is why they know to promote artist that current teens listen to. Generally a lot of popteen artist from 90s-2000s do well selling tickets now because it's a night of nostalgia back to the good times of being young but that audience isn't chasing a new britney song they want the stuff that takes them back to the good old days. I'm 31 and I love staying relevant with music but I don't have any friends my age that stay current with music. :)

Even back then she wqant as huge as her small fan base say she was. She had mainly a kids fan base which was why parents didn't like her for how r rates she was in her songs. She has flopped on so many levels so she should just not release anymore because no one cares and she isnt a star anymore

Lilah Bellie katy perry is definitely not in demand. She was in demand from 2008-2014. She has been tanking lately, unfortunately. Taylor Swift is most likely going to be another Madonna story. But a vast majority of the time, when a female artist joins the 30 club their career drastically declines in sales, popularity etc. in just 2018-19 taylor Swift is one of the only female artist who is 30 that topped the charts and stayed there. Vs the many over 30 (or 29)male artists who have, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, jay z, drake, etc. The most popular female artists this year are all in their teens or 20s.

P!nk, in an interview, said she got "The Talk" from RCA records when she hit her mid 30's informing her not to expect the radio support she was used to anymore citing radio programmers leaning toward music for younger audiences. That was around the time "Beautiful Trauma" was released. Australia has generally been a huge market for P!nk (with 3 successive albums scoring multi-platinum sales. "Hurts 2B Human" has barely gone Gold and is proving to be her least successful album. I don't believe that audiences would abandon an artist so quickly. But these is becoming a common recurrence among many artists, especially female artists. It's as though someone is predetermining an artists sell by date and giving in accordingly. If this same standard (policy) had been applied in the 1980's, Tina Turner would never have stood a chance with 1984 comeback album "Private Dancer". Had the same took place in the 1990's, Cher would never have had a global number 1 with believe. Call me a conspiracy theorist if you must, but I'm wondering if record labels aren't dropping their expectations and cutting 'n' running instead of backing proven talent beyond that preconceived sell by date for fear of smaller profits. In the past, successive poor showings on the music charts, like Britney's, would result in artists losing a record labels support and their recording contacts. I know their is a long held practice of holding artists to label deals despite poor showings on the charts in premeditated effort to kill off interest from any othef labels should an artist be released from thrir contracts early. This very thing happened to Tori Amos who found herself having to wait out her contract with Atlantic. Ultimately, Tori Amos fulfilled her contractual obligations and managed to secure a deal with Sony Music in the early 2000's which saw a rejuvenation in her creative output. Tori Amos has changed labels again since, and now releases under her own copyright trademark (through Universal, to whom she had been directly signed after Sony), citing a preference to be free of the corporate machine and create the work she is inspired to create within her own time frame. Though an artist ought to be willing to commit to promoting their own work, if a record label's marketing and promotional teams are non-committal than artists are wasting their time and talent, pure and simple. What is needed is a change in culture within the music and greater entertainment industry. Afterall, what should matter most is the quality of the song and not the age of the artist.

It’s funny cause I recently just discovered your channel, and I was going to suggest you doing a video discussing Britney Spears’ “Glory”. What an incredible Pop album, one of the best Pop albums in most recent years. An experimental, cohesive body of work that thought outside the Pop music box for Britney, pushing her into new genres, styles AND was the most involved she’s been allowed to work on an album since “In The Zone”. It’s my favourite release of 2016, besides Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman”. This album was packed full of potential hit singles that sadly never came to be. The one’s that did become singles however were poorly promoted, therefore leading to the entire album being sadly overlooked by the general public. “Change Your Mind”, “Do You Wanna Come Over?”, “Love Me Down” etc. Her management team really missed the mark with this one. “Glory” deserved so much better. The “Glory” era was great in the sense that we saw Britney regain much of the stage presence and confidence that was seen throughout the early years of her career. You could tell she was very proud of this album and this was clearly reflected by her being more open, happy and excited to be promoting in her interviews. Also her dancing had vastly improved since the Femme Fatale days, her energy was on point. “Britney Jean” was a hot mess. An album containing some of the best song lyrics Britney has ever written, but was overshadowed by will.i.am and his horrid production. Britney had very little control on certain aspects of the record, production being one of them. It didn’t match up with the personal touch that Britney herself wanted to take with the album. I do hope that whenever Britney decides to make her return with B10, that she’ll take what she learned from making “Glory” and continue to push herself musically. And if you’re like me and you’ve been keeping up with the #FreeBritney movement and everything that she’s been going through this past year, I’m expecting some good material. P.S: Can we just take a moment to appreciate the Japanese bonus track, “Mood Ring”?!

She had her Glory days in the late 90s early 00s. Britney was never the same after the events of 2007. She clearly doesn't want to do it anymore, but unfortunately for her as long as she is profitable, there are to many people making money off her for her to be able to just walk away. The past few years are gradually tarnishing her legend status. I will forever be grateful to of been able to experience Britney as a early teenager at the peak of her career. It's not a case of #FreeBritney it's more a case of just let her rest and do what she wants. None of us know the extent of her mental health issues but for her dad to still be in control of any important decisions 12 years later speaks volumes, and don't give me that bs they bribe the judge etc. She has a voice, and she's a strong woman. I'd rather Britney vanished and be happy for the rest of her life than keep on doing what she does for the sake of it. It's her job at the end of the day but after 20+ years she's been there done that and has absolutely nothing left to prove.

Let’s also remember Britney Jean was the first album when she went to RCA (due to JIVE being sold) it was her first album with the new label, a time she was exploring sounds and was just going with the flow. With GLORY it was her 2nd and she took more control due to the backlash of Britney Jean, it’s a matter of time for Britney to warm up to anything “new” I’m sure she will do much more for B10. Britney was testing the waters with the new label, she slowly made her way back unto live TV stages, she conquered and got her confidence back. For B10 i know in my heart she will slay harder than ever becuz she made her return and is confident again. The media and the world really ruined her in every way but she still slays...

Glory is in my opinion Britney's most underrated and close to best work she's ever released. It is unfortunate it didn't get the promo or attention I feel it deserved but it is what it is. Britney had to re-find herself, and she's slowly but surely finding her peace of mind. If that means sticking with Vegas, and spending more time with the kids...FANTASTIC!!! To repeat several comments, in the era of streaming....the whole landscape has drastically changed.

I don't know much about Glory, but for Britney Jean, Britney was planning to create Blackout 2.0, but RCA hired will.i.am to work on it so it appears to be very different from what Britney had in mind. Britney had only performed 3 songs live (Work Bitch, Perfume and Alien), and fans say that she didn't like the final work so she only sang her personal and favorite songs, and pretended the rest did not exist.

While Femme Fatale was a true success back in 2011 it was definitely a product of it’s time and sounded a bit dated past 2014. It’s still iconic and one of her best albums. Glory still holds strong after 4+ years though and it’s definitely top tier for me, does anybody feel the same? I really feel she gave it her all on that album and had some of her best vocals but it’s always overlooked.
@alvarod92883 жыл бұрын
I feel like the main reasons why glory underperformed was because her public image at that point was non existent since she was locked in vegas doing shows for nearly 3 years, regular people who are not fans or didn't attend to her vegas shows hadn't heard her name in years, and they probably lost some interest since britney jean was really bad for a lot of people... all of that + 0 promotions and poor single choices can't make an album succeed

Such a great video. Thank you for your kind words about her and her work. I am Team Britney since the beginning and I must say that even though Glory did not chart well, I LOVE that album. Britney Jean was Vegas promo album in my opinion and some of the rumors say that Britney was helped by a background singer to complete the songs... She has nothing to prove anymore. I do hope she will be happy now, enjoying life, her family and record the type of music she wants and she likes.

I love love ❤️ your channel. I was pleasantly surprised with Glory “What you Need” being my fav. I am a huge Britney fan. Britney’s strength is stage performance. I noticed her current choreographers are not catering to her jazz/hip hop/funk dance roots. Also America having a Trap explosion could be why is not being pushed. However I strongly felt Domination would have been more hip hop based due to clips of the rehearsal being leaked.

I think BJ ruined Britney's image. She didn't sang most of the tracks and the team needed something to promote the residency show, so they used backup vocalists to finish some tracks or even sing entire ones, and then over processed all the vocals to make them more similar. The glitch in Alien, the leaked vocal which prove the album version of most songs is mainly sang by someone else, the lack of promotion really damaged Britney. I love Glory, and it was born in a period where Jamie Spears was forced by his health to temporally step down as a conservator. She was able to make decision regarding her music she didn't done in the past nine years. She also co-wrote some tracks. In 2016 she looked much better than previous years and smiled a lot more.

TheArianator Life After I’m A Slave 4 U, Britney was banned from radio due to the controversy of the song and radio didn’t play her music again until 2003 (MATM with Madonna(the lead single)) was her comeback to radio with the In The Zone album she came back but ITZ only sold 10M because she didn’t promote ‘Toxic’ as the lead single. If Toxic was lead I’m sure it would have outsold the ‘Britney’ album.

The "Leave Britney Alone!" era where she flashed her cooch to the paparazzi while hanging out with Paris Hilton and shaved her head bald was most definitely 2007. Blackout was supposed to be her big return but was overshadowed by all of the media hoopla. 2009 was in-between the Circus era and before Femme Fatale. She had already made a comeback from her breakdown and was back on the charts with Womanizer and Circus by this point. 2009 was a non event year for Britney aside from releasing a new Greatest Hits album to mark her 10th anniversary as an artist, The Singles Collection. I'm not sure what that other poster was talking about.

She is a legend and this is only a theory, however going back to 2009 i feel like going to see her is like going to sea world. Money is going to the people that force her to do stuff ....She has no freedom to be her and no freedom in general and it’s painful. It’s like so many of her melt downs are her trying to do things on her own terms and they won’t let her. They put her in a box and won’t let her make what she wants to make. Idk if other Britney fans get that vibe but I do and it’s painful. She just need to be happy, be able to live and find inspiration when SHE finds it not when her dad or manager do.
