Hey salc1, could you maybe talk to duper trooper about the hypixel skyblock duping situation? He thinks skyblock is p2w cuz u can buy cosmetics and booster cookies for gems which u get from the hypixel store, but these cosmetics barely give money and zero in game advantages. And booster cookies can be acquired by the normal person through the bazaar for a decent price. He really ruins the experience for everyone and makes the game near unplayable

The personal, human element is what I miss about the old age of SMP servers. When servers were small scale survival experiences of towns where everyone knew each other, there was a heavy and loyal sense of community. A rogue griefer might join every once in a blue moon, but the people of the server would come together to help the victim rebuild and get back on their feet quickly. People would craft cakes to celebrate your birthday, and you would do the same for them. You could borrow tools/items from people, and they could trust that you would return them and/or repay the favor later. Players banded together in a large team to overcome a challenge that was insurmountable for just a couple of people. Players would play harmless pranks on each other. People would run to where you died to make sure your stuff was safely stored in a chest and help fight off any remaining mobs. Players would build a Christmas tree, and have gifts for everyone in chests. People were generally nice and would answer questions you had about the game. You didn’t even know each other beyond playing the same game, and yet you cared about each other. You think you’d see any of that on Hypixel, or competitive PVP/factions servers? Not a goddamn chance. No one ever sympathizes when I say that Minecraft servers were never meant to be businesses. To this day, the best way to play Minecraft is a private server with a small group of friends.

I don't remember the exact name of the first server I joined, but it was called something along the lines of SailboatMC or LifeBoat or something on Pocket Edition back in 2013. My mom was so scared of online multiplayer that she never let me play online games. But then I went over to a friends house and played on his phone so my mom wouldn't know. Man the good old days. When moms still thought the internet could kill you instantly. And then my mom found out, joined the server to test it out herself cause I was still somehow alive, and she was like," Ok you can play this." And I've been playing online ever since lol

I played on a SMP server for years and yes, I loved going on and seeing my friends, building things with them, touring other players bases. I had a walled city full of castles and other large builds - a tourist destination near spawn and people would bring new players over for a tour. I do miss those days.

Organic is the best way to play minecraft multiplay.. In february of 2020, i started a minecraft server with some of my pals, along with some other people in my school who wanted to join. We had a discord server with just about 15 of us, and when quarantine came, while it was a lot of struggle for everyone around the world, a lot of fun was being made with all of my friends, all just enjoying some minecraft together. We fought against eachother, made insane builds, played together, and just had fun. There was some griefing, some drama, there were people fighting other people, but we were just having fun. Some of the best memories I ever had with my friends. When we made a new world with mods and all these crazy anticheats and economy and all that stuff, then it stopped being fun, but we all remember and will never forget the fun we had during those few months of quarantine. There could never have been a better time that we could have done the server, and I will forever miss it, since i dont think we could ever duplicate that experience.

Thing is, those small servers are still around, but most don't bother looking for them. Not to mention that Minecraft discord getting rid of the "lfg/Looking for game" channel most certainly killed off many chances of them getting discovered. My favourite server I found there is iCarey, which is still around but it's in player drought because most of the regulars have done their massive bases and farms so they stopped playing and are waiting for summer. If anyone sees this comment, and wants to join our little community, look us up on most server list websites. (and if you do find yourself on our server, tell em Sharie sent ya)

I prefer Minecraft’s multiplayer from 2015-2018, especially 2016, because 2015 is when I was finally able to play Multiplayer servers, and by then old Minecraft multiplayer was not what people were playing. So servers such as Mineplex, The Hive, and Hypixel, are where most of my fond Minecraft memories lie.

For those looking for some old style non P2W servers: Old style PvP: Overcast community, the community run continuation of the overcast network, features many classic gamemodes like capture the flag and defend the monument. IP: play.oc.tc Old style raw survival: Purity Vanilla. It's only rules are no hacking, griefing, inentionally lagging the server and no doxxing. It is a very freedom based survival server with no restrictions on what you can do, build great bases, destroy them, pvp at spawn, or make strange events in the blown up wasteland of 0 0. It's often viewed as a hackless version of 2b2t, which is partially accurate. It's only major drawback is that it has a queue and donors get priority access through it, but besides that it has 0 P2W features. IP: Purityvanilla.com Old style SMP: Try r/mcservers or r/mcvanillaservers, there is a cast of oldschool minimal plugin SMP's there. Apply to some of them and find a good fit, some of my fondest memories of the game come from the type of servers you can find there.

I remember playing on 1 server called vicious circle. It came with the game (that i obviously cracked) it was a server filled with shops, buildings and some gamemodes. But in the wild were chests with names on them so you couldn't open them. It was amazing, me and my friend played on it for hours, our first base was underground...jesus alot was going on. I can talk for days

I subbed just because of this video. I dearly miss the old days of SMP servers. building bases, raiding enemies, having fun and building together. Once I have an actually usable internet connection I will be there. Bookmarked.
