Jay is probably the single most knowledgeable individual in the country in regard to the 2JZ platform. If it were not for him, 2JZ development in the united states would be nearly a decade behind the current state. That being said, did he sell real street? Was it a joint venture between himself and others, and he opted to be bought out by his partners in order to go solo with RS Garage?

Adam, check the shape of your collector on the 4 rotor. If the runners just enter a d are chopped straight it will give that BMW rasp you hate, if they are shaped to the collector (no excess runner pipe inside the collector) you get a muc much better f1 style scream.

If you start with an rb30 then 3.5 is not a big stretch. Rb26 isn't the only rb. We stuck the rb30 in a sedan but you also got them in the patrol as a petrol or diesel which is a pretty strong block.

I strongly suggest WPC Treatment for the high wear parts in the engine such as the rotating assembly for starters. Really helps with part longevity and resilience.

The different main bolt smell could be different detergents used to wash the blocks as per the region they are built and what chemicals are legal.
