What Will Become of Basildon? [Exhibition Version]

“What Will Become of Basildon?” is a community film project that celebrates Basildon’s buildings, what they were, are and could be.
At a time of change for Basildon town centre, this project captures the history of how residents have lived with these buildings: recording interviews on audio and film and bringing them to life as dance pieces in a unique dance-documentary. The project involved over 300 residents in its creation - as performers, choreographers, interviewees, volunteers and production assistants. ‘What Will Become of Basildon?’ was screened in Basildon across 3 days in May 2023, accompanied by an audio installation of residents’ memories, hopes and dreams for the town.
