Queen Elizabeth II loved her corgis! The short-legged pooches were the queen's steadfast companions for nearly eight decades. From meetings to photo ops, the corgis were always by her side. It all started with a corgi puppy named Susan that was gifted to the queen on her 18th birthday. The lucky dog even tagged along on her honeymoon with Prince Philip. She went on to own more than 30 dogs during her reign. Queen Elizabeth left behind four dogs, where they’ll end up has yet to be known.

I remember my grandpas' dog, just waiting outside his room. My family just kept him apart, so he never really said goodbye. I tried to hug him a lot and talk to him. He's better now, he's got friends and whenever we visit, everybody just wants to pet him.

I must say I have never understood the attraction to corgis. Chunky body, foxy face and too-short legs, and a weird gait. The name corgi is derived from the Welsh words cor and ci, meaning "dwarf" and "dog", respectively. Dwarf dog. It fits. I find them ugly, but perhaps it's their personality that attracts people.

@@GrabThatPencil I have only really had experience of a few dog breeds: an Afghan hound who I used to take for long runs (literally running for miles) for a friend while I lived on a volcano in Costa Rica, my father's Welsh sheep dogs who were intelligent and had very nice temperaments, and a friend's horrible French bulldogs who were the most obnoxious unbearable four-legged canines I've ever come across. I can't say I like dogs in general, but I really loved that Afghan because he was so energetic, happy, wild and free. Definitely a dog for wild wide open spaces with tons of room to run. I always feel so sorry for Afghans when I see them in cities treated as some kind of fashion statement.

Other royals can be though, but not in her presence or in/near buckingham palace. So then I wondered have any royals been arrested?? I’m sure they can sweep some crimes under the rug. I know prince Andrew has sexual assault allegations and now King Charles was/is being investigated, one of his charities is. But anyways, the fact I found was Princess Anne became the first senior royal to get arrested back in 2002 and was convicted of a criminal offense bc her English bull terrier Doty bit 2 kids in Windsor Great Park. She plead guilty to a charge under the dangerous dogs act and paid a £500 fine.

@@HayleysComet3 I just checked, it’s the same damn dog, Dotty! She killed the queens corgi too! It was in 2003 so it had already attacked the 2 kids. She was supposed to keep her dogs on leashes but didn’t have them on one when she went to visit the queen. When she rang the doorbell the group of corgis got excited and ran to the door barking, like dogs do, and Princess Anne’s dog ran in as soon as the doors opened and got all excited bc of the commotion and bit the corgi breaking its leg. The vet came ASAP but his condition deteriorated and they had to put him down the next day :( I also found news princess annes dog trainer was shot and killed in 2020. This damn dog is cursed or something. Too many bad vibes or something. I can’t find anywhere right now that Princess Anne chose to put down Dotty after the attack or not. I’m sure she’s not around now I’d imagine. Or she’d at least be very old and close to going.

If it wasn't for the queen the average person wouldn't know about the corgi. I found out about corgis because my friend used to watch Cowboy Bebop when it first aired on Adult Swim. He was gifted one and I saw his dog for the first time, and I fell in love with it that I got mine without permission from my folks.

When I found out how sick I was a few years back the first thing I thought of what's going to happen to all of my babies. At the time I have three German shepherds and a Jack Russell which for all rescue. I did have friends and family that said they would look after them. Is that just did not work for me. My babies came from abused homes and only new happiness once they were with me. Over past years they started passing on their own. They were able to cross the rainbow bridge in their home with their daddy. One of the worst abused one he actually outlived all his brothers and sisters that were younger than him. He was 17 years old and normally you don't see German shepherds live that long. As much as I miss all my babies I and now comfortable with my fate. My babies will be waiting for me when I cross the bridge to be with them. I really hope the Queen's family takes care of her babies. Some people just cannot understand the bond between their little ones.
