this was exactly my first thought too, starting from a more humble perspective of the warhammer universe gives the viewer a better appreciation of it's epicness over time. sort of like how tolkien introduces you to such an epic world through the perspective of the hobbits and gradually brings you into grander and grander scenes

Dante literally shows us from a kids perspective the whole process of becoming a space marine. Also has more human elements in the battle for Baal. Then opens us up to how big the universe is at the end with Guilliman turning up!

Horus Heresy should be, in my opinion, the final piece of the puzzle. The grandest and best. Like Marvel's Endgame and Infinity War. Each Primarch getting their origin story and such. We can see all the good and bad primarchs rise to power and their stories. Seeing them betray each other would probably be heartbreaking and significant. Unlike Marvel Phase 4 lol.

Or maybe him be normal and get powers over time and maybe go through a few legions over a few seasons. And maybe get more high end actors so it's not just cavil and everyone else dying. Lol

Playing an Inquisitor and his retinue would be the best way to go about an intro of the Warhammer Universe. You get the personal characters of the Inquisitor and his Agents. But then You can involve guest appearances of the Space marines Titans...or the Imperial Navy etc. here and there to show the True Glory and Power of the Imperium.

The setup is really important considering how many super super things spawned from thin air its like a child wrote it. "He had invulnerable shield but the other had anti-invulnerable fists and 2 invulnerable shields and..."

I have the McFarlane 7 inch figures, and recently a Knight Questoris and Blood Angel combat patrol that I intend to paint but I don't follow WH40K so I am not sure of the stories. But to set the tone of the grimdark it would be cool if they had an opening scene like LoTR did where the allies faced Sauron and his armies. Really got me pumped for the rest of the LoTR movies.

Esienhorn makes the most sense. The genre detective is a mass appeal medium for storytelling. Adding in the artstyle and dark vineear/horror elements of warhammer 40k and you could make a very mature fantasy that becomes well received and honestly very unique to the detective genre. Another angle could be a game of thrones approach to introduce all the different factions.

Eisenhorn would be great and since it is considered a good starting pt I can totally see. Horus heresy I’d like to see as a movie as I feel doing that as a tv show would not make it epic enough. Maybe like a Lotr/hobbit type trilogy. I can totally see him being the g man for the same reasons. If it’s a show about space marines it’s going to be ultra marines. A guardsman movie involving tyranids or the fall of Cadia. My dream show would be about sigusmond and akin to his life story. Maybe him narrating the background some through out and ending with him dying to abandon.

Honestly just straight up start on warhammer 40k wiki to get a general overview then look up a good book list. As they mentioned Eisenhorn books are probably the BEST entry point for the universe. From there you pick your favorite faction and just dive in.

Cavill made it clear along with his Girlfriend that they are looking to make a cinematic universe. So he would likely want to be a character who can show up in many of the shows even if just hints. Furthermore I think the first feature/show needs to lay the foundation for the rest to jump off. Both in Lore and quality normies need a good entry point and Eisenhorn seems like a good vehicle. There are others of course. Plus eventually we all know we would like to see other factions presented from their POV. Who wouldn't want to see Eldar enter into fray a bit. Rating needs to reflect the world, but they can tame down some of the over the top stuff. Yes if Slaaneesh has bras on and nipples aren't fly all over that is fine. Really though something simple like like a hive city in some unknown sector dealing with something and a Custodoes ordered to track down a man who is destined to become a great figure in the cinematic universe would be great. Henry as that Custodoes would instantly make him relevant in any show. Gulliman wouldn't be bad either, but budget would inflate instantly. I think a simpler story would be needed initially.

Everyone assumes its gonna be a big budget production cause its on Amazon... but considering Amazon recently ended up spending a fortune on a failure of a show, they might end up not giving Warhammer enough money and lets be real, 40K isnt TV friendly.. its a great medium for books, where you actually have great narratives than help explain characters motivations as you can actually read what they are thinking... Imagine looking at a space marine with a helmet on in a TV show, what does that actually mean... basically nothing, while in the book you read his thoughts. I dont expect much tbh.

Whatever they decide to film, I hope that they remember one thing that made a strong impression upon me as a youth - that this 'universe' is a satire. Both 40k in its inception, and its anti-colonial Fantasy counterpart, were of the era of 2000AD and critical of Britain in the 1980s. Sadly, those elements have become less overt. I would be somewhat disappointed if all we got from this series was Henry Cavill playing any given 'hero' of a galaxy-spanning, genocidal, gothic, fascistic regime run by Space Jesus (who specifically told everyone he wasn't a messiah, just a very naughty boy!) in a coma. And yes - that's how silly it should sound, if it is to really be 'true to its roots'! :-)
